We all like to think reason and logic serve as anchors to the decisions making process. The truth, whether we like it or not, is that emotions are often more powerful than rational. As humans, I believe we must accept this phenomenon and learn to incorporate it into a process in a way that will benefit us.

Re: Carnival of Money Stories #63 - Gather Round the Campfire!

Thank you for hosting the carnival and choosing my post as an editor's pick!

Re: welcome to New York City

Loved the post. I think the concept of utility would better describe your decision.

All the numbers indicate your chances of becoming more successful, financially wise, were much greater attending an Ivy League university. You might have gained more speaking in whole terms (like utility) but as financials go I don’t agree with the bottom line (just my personal point of view of course).

It does sound like it was the right decision for you to make.

Re: best financial move in college, part 1

@Trent - I guess you're one of the lucky ones than. You figured it out pretty soon and acted on it. I think the majority of people wish they had taken different majors....

Re: best financial move in college, part 2

Good post. I wrote a similar post on why should we learn a foreign language. In short: New market(s), competitive edge, self branding, networking and cultural diversity.

I'm a francophile myself. Not very popular, I know.

Re: short term, long term

We must not forget we still have a life to live. New links to the new domain (do they add up with the old ?)
2. Feedburner feeds - what are the necessary updates?
3. Technorati ?
4. Search results drop?

I’d love to hear more from your experience.

Regards,
Dorian

Dorian Wales's last blog post..Budgeting for Unexpected Expenses
