in T&T 0-3 US: The Victory of “Anti Football” on Major League Soccer Talk
If Sven-Goran Eriksson comes close (with Mexico) to matching his record with "the Three Lions" (only five competitive games lost 2001-2006), "El Tri" may be the team to fear in the qualifyers and in South Africa?
I wonder how Fabio Capello's England team are feeling about the prospect of potentially being KO'd by their old boss...... What potential irony after labeling Eriksson an "underachiever", even with his un-matched statistics?
The Central America AND European qualifyers are getting more "interesting" all the time....

in The US Could Learn from Sven on Major League Soccer Talk
Only a few media hacks chose to brand Eriksson's tenure with the England national squad a "failure".
The unequalled record of only five competitive games lost 2001-2006 (two qualifyers and three quarter finals) has left Sven in the highest esteem with most of the British public and soccer fans with a recent poll giving him an amazing 90%+ approval rating, even though "Sven-bashing" still remains within certain (xenophobic?) media quarters.
Svennis is ranked as England's second most successful coach and has an almost unchallenged history of success in club and international soccer and it will be very "interesting" to see how he is appreciated by The Mexican Federation and El Tri fans as he brings his skills to their progress their qualifying route to Africa 2010 after his perfidious treatment by some of the British press and the English FA.
England's (and MCFC's) loss looks very much like Mexico's potential gain?

in Sven’s Decision to Recall Blanco: Pros and Cons on Major League Soccer Talk
Sven's past decisions gave England an unmatched record of only five competitive games lost in five and a half years.
Lets see if he can top that with Mexico?

in Mark Hughes Takes on Mission Impossible at Man City on EPL Talk
England had it's best run for decades losing only 5 competitive games 2001/2006 - TheFA dump Sven amid howls of protest from official fan organisations and team members - England crash in flames for Euro08. England qualifying for W-Cup 2010??????
MCFC has it's best season in decades - Thaksin dumps Sven amid howls of protest from City fans and team members - MCFC staff and fan morale crashes in flames. MCFC next season????
There appears to be a bit of a pattern emerging.......
The other bad news is the England now have Svennis (and his amazing personal support team!) with Mexico to contend with, IF we qualify for the next World Cup competition.
Anyone for tennis?

Just wait until Sven's men really get their act together.....
Svennis always does "the impossible" pretty quickly (like turning England around after the Euro 2000 fiasco and already changing Man City's 30 year run of mediocraty)... but miracles take just a little bit longer.

in Man City 2-1 Reading on Footytube.com
Business as usual for Sven-Goran Eriksson it would seem, but I wonder if he can maintain his record of only 5 competitive games lost in five and a half years (The best England squad statistics in history?) and be better rewarded than he was by the "greatful and patriotic" British press that drove him to quit as National coach last year?
England's sad loss for Euro2008 is Man City's gain in the premier league....

in Hiddink has no regrets on England on Footytube.com
It's little wonder that Hiddink was not too interested in "the poisoned chalice" that is the England manager's job? Sven-Goran Eriksson has statistically the best record for England in decades: Only five competitive games lost, top place in every qualifying group and FIFA No.4 world ranking during W-Cup '06 and while the majority of the English public appreciated and admired him, the press crucified him and his squad until he quit with two years left on his contract. What other world class coach would want the job after that?
