in HOW TO: Use Wikis for Business Projects on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
I love to use a wiki in group projects with team members at the school where I work. I'm not surprised it translates to the business world as well.

in Linux Mint 7 Refreshes yet Feels just as Comfortable on Hitched Hiker
Found your blog through DPS, on their recent GIMP article.
I've been using ubuntu for several months now, and actually didn't find out about Mint until after I'd become comfortable with ubuntu. I may have to create a Live CD and take it for a test drive. The only thing that I'm unhappy with ubuntu right now is that it isn't picking up my 3-D graphics very well on my laptop. Therefore, apps like Google Earth become impossible to run. I've researched forums and have come to the conclusion that my particular card isn't supported very well by ubuntu. Windows Vista, which is what was on that machine before, did great with it. I wonder if Mint would support it any better? It's worth a shot.

in Kids These Days on Drape's Takes
What I love is that Mozilla's servers is housed at my alma mater, Oregon State University! This project was done not far from campus a few years ago. I remember when it was first done. Looks kind of like open source aliens were trying to send us a message, or something.
I'm trying to teach my oldest about the virtues of open source, but only when I can get the buds to his iPod Touch out of his ears for long enough.

in Change on Drape's Takes
Amazing how we embrace change, but when it comes time for change in our own lives, we get a little cold feet sometimes! Congratulations, and best wishes to you and your family as you prepare to make this transition.

Los, college football here on the West coast is a much more cerebral thing, I've come to understand. The south is just a whole different animal.
I got both my degrees from Oregon State University, so I pretty much bleed orange and black. Go Beavs!

in Google Docs in Elementary Schools on Drape's Takes
I'm an elementary counselor, and I hadn't seen the under-13 requirement before. I use Google Docs with our older kids (4th and 5th graders) for polling about various things. Technically, the kids are using it with adult supervision close at hand, so I wonder if that counts? I'd like to look into this a little more.

in 2008/07/29/wiki-solutions/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
One important aspect of a wiki would be community support. For me, that would be MediaWiki, which I make use of on a daily basis. They have a good IRC channel that I use when I need help with something, and I don't believe I have ever come up empty with it. Thanks for a great article!

in CCLI Top Songs - Blessed Be Your Name on FredMcKinnon.Com
If my vote counted, this song would be #1. I didn't become a fan of it until I heard Newsboys do it live in 2005, and I was hooked after that.

Fred, thanks for picking this idea up and running with it. It's great to see other perspectives in one central place. I've added a few blogs to my reader in the last few weeks.

in blogging matters on transitionpete
I've long since held that Twitter has an affect on our blogging, for better or worse. I realized yesterday that I had posted three worship confessionals with no other posts in between! I totally understand about having blog posts mentally written but not to the blog yet. I wonder if WordPress makes a plugin for that? You know, some USB powered device that fits right over your head, like one of those alien mind-reading scramblers made out of tin foil Or am I the only one that has one of those? :-)
Look forward to more posts.

in Sunday Setlist [8.10.08] on Russ Hutto
Nice set! That's cool when you get to do your own tunes. We have a couple of really good song writers on our team, and we have no problem putting any of them right along side of a Tomlin or Redman tune. Thanks for posting this.

I love what Crowder has done for some of those older hymns. They might otherwise die out with this generation unless somebody makes them hip again.

in Bye, bye Diigo on TechTicker
Yep, I've been of the opinion that Diigo is a little too much social bookmarking for my tastes. It just seems like too much of a good thing. Del.icio.us lets me save my own bookmarks for later use and let others choose whether or not to look at them.

in Ragamuffin Soul » Want To Talk to Third Day? on Ragamuffin Soul
Mark, congratulations on the birth of your 2nd child. What an exciting time in your life.
To what do you credit your ability to balance your hectic Third Day schedule with your duties as a father and husband?

and the packages for that were downloaded after first boot. Wifi worked out
of the box. Mint is the best experience I have had with linux. Although,
ubuntu also took care of the graphics drivers, it didnt do the wifi part
well.
