Thank you for the article, Barack Marley. We never heard much about Malcolm and Obama because this country on the whole is scared to death of Malcolm. And then, he was only brought up in a weird scheme to say that Malcolm was Barack's true biological father. Just craziness.

But there's some interesting info in the article. Thank you. Especially for the reminder of all that is good about Malcolm.

If they had called Dr. Rice and General Powell house negroes (or 'house slaves' in the literal translation that didn't accompany the english subtitles) before, that's one thing. If they've never referred to Dr. Rice or General Powell as house negroes before, and yet decide to do it now -- sounds fake.

In other news, Gitmo is going to really really be shut down? happy day.

Something is wrong with this news. I'm being cautious. I need more proof of source before saying something. I do believe somebody is trying to be really clever, but I'm not sure who or what their ultimate intent is. Right now, it sounds like a lot of noise designed specifically to start mess. But to what purpose?

Kathy actually said THIS?

"It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs."

I'm shocked. I expected her first and last reasons, but not that one to come from her mouth!

I guess nobody told McCain that Kathy gets extremely protective of her little guttersnipes, I guess; see also: The Trial, and The Rich laughing at the Hiltons. Or that the Hiltons get weird about their image; the only negative images allowed are those they are allowed to profit from. Did the Hiltons ever give permission to the McCain campaign to use Paris' image in a national TV ad (the denial afterwards doesn't matter)? Still, that's a great written reason to slap on McCain. That's worthy of Candy Spelling.

So what's in the works for the 'kiss and make up'?

I don't know what to make of this. Is that really how he meant it? Were there better examples he could have or should have used? Since it worked in New York... is he wrong?

"McCain suggests military-style invasion modeled on the surge to control inner city crime.»

Today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) spoke to the National Urban League, a group “devoted to empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream.” When an audience member asked him how he planned to reduce urban crime, McCain praised Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s efforts in New York Cirty before invoking the military’s tactics in Iraq as the model for crime-fighting:

MCCAIN: And some of those tactics — you mention the war in Iraq — are like that we use in the military. You go into neighborhoods, you clamp down, you provide a secure environment for the people that live there, and you make sure that the known criminals are kept under control. And you provide them with a stable environment and then they cooperate with law enforcement, " (and then video follows)

That level of lying blows my mind. And it's not even necessary.

Besides, didn't Public Enemy do a song about what happened in Arizona, and get into all kinds of mess for 'going there'? Wasn't a Super Bowl withheld from Arizona? It's not necessary. Just like lying about Katrina while ignoring photo after photo showing him and Bush cutting cake for his (McCain's) birthday wasn't necessary.

Though to be honest, I wouldn't have known about The Cake if I didn't have the Internet at the time. Maybe that's what they're going for... that, and they think most of us really do suffer from MTV/Bruckheimer/Bay-inflicted ADD/ADHD.

McCain does not need to be President Of The United States. That also goes for the lying Clintons (for those still out there massaging hopes), because of the level of lies they've shown themselves willing to engage in, as well.

I agree. Hillary on the ticket is a 'maybe next time see ya Barack' from me. I will not vote for any ticket which has her on it. Besides, Hillary doesn't know how to fight. Hillary knows how to waste money and expect other people to pick up her pieces when she's screwed up. Hillary also knows how to play dirty while claiming innocence. But that's not the same as knowing how to fight -- particularly if you could have avoided those fights you find yourself having to dig in against.

I am suspect of any and all 'movements' to get Hillary on the ticket. Now, theyv'e got folks trying to petition their way to Denver to force her on the ticket. Screw that.

And yes, Democrats should be unified by now.

in This is Why there’s Skepticism about Obama on Jack and Jill Politics
A World Nut Daily hyperlink LOL alright. That's cool. Every source counts. The folks who would slam him for that, and for this:

""There's no doubt that when it comes to our treatment of Native Americans as well as other persons of color in this country, we've got some very sad and difficult things to account for," Obama told the convention. He has told Hawaii reporters he supports a federal plan to recognize native Hawaiians. He was asked for his thoughts about a formal U.S. apology to American Indians."

are just looking for excuses not to vote for him, since they weren't going to anyway. As for reparations for Native Americans -- aren't they already getting paid? Or is Indian Country money different from 'reparations' as discussed for black people? But that whole situation is screwed up, so many tribes are so desperate to keep the federal money rolling in they're allowing anybody in......... unless they're black. I think it's a damn shame so many white people are getting paid for having a great-grandmother who was the lone Amerindian, while also enjoying white skin privilege. Meanwhile, 'real' Indians live the worst lives on those reservations and the money doesn't do a damn thing to help Indian Country out of poverty. If it did, the money would stop rolling in. And the Indian Councils can't have that.

That entire system needs a complete overhaul. That complete overhaul will never happen. Indian Country will continue to stagnate because keeping the federal money rolling in (and keeping 'real' Amerindians on the reservation and in abject poverty) is more important than an improvement. That situation is part of the reason why I continue to be mystified over the reparations for African-Americans issue. Is it because everyone else has gotten paid, and blacks should be paid, too? or something else. I firmly believe a check from the government is not going to solve Black America's problems. Social and cultural change will. You can't buy that, at least you can't buy the positive version of that. It has to come from the soul and the heart.

"It should make us wonder why a white man (Steve Cohen) got the formal apology for slavery, and the first Black Man with a legit shot at the White House (Obama) is oh-so-ready to denounce it."

Tim Wise would have an answer for that -- and he'd be right.

This isn't a fair criticism of Obama, in my opinion. Obama is playing chess. He knows what he's doing. As for 'let's get him elected first' -- I completely agree with that as well. What exactly is expecting perfection of Obama going to do, if it just gets John McCain elected? Give folks the security of a battle lost before it'd begun?

I won't flame you, you bring the noise and the science daily, on multiple websites. Please enjoy your trip, can't wait to read about it when you get back.

in Obama Heckled - “What About The Black Community?” on Jack and Jill Politics
Speaking of, regarding that quote, sorta.................. Freepers are all over this as well, but they're convinced that it's OBAMA who staged this, because of the sign and the microphone. Some of them are pulling up the Clintons name as masters of this type of 'showmanship', self-inflicted drama to appear to pull out ahead.

So, is this a real group or not? Is the 'not necessarily participate in the political process' exactly what it says on the surface, or a way of admitting something deeper about who they really are?

Was this staged or not? As ignorant and counterproductive and horrible as it made black people look (selfish)......... it would be much worse if these 'non participating in the political process' folks were a circus act feeding Obama to make him look good, classic Clinton style (the Freepers are right about that being one of the tricks in their bag). So, as screwed up as this was, I hope it's 'real'.

I. Am. Sick. Of. These. Crab. Barrel. Can't. See. The. Big. Picture. Negroes. God Lord almighty. I want to cry. I absolutely want to cry.

It's like they're being paid by someone to take him out. It's not like that hasn't been done before (see also: those black folks in Ohio who were paid by the Clintons through a temp agency to protest Obama) We are our own worst enemy -- and for what? What price?

I hope Obama is not ultimately Malcolm Xed (ie - taken out by his own, us).

And Miranda, yes he did give an excellent answer. By the way, I just spoke to a (white) Republican who was impressed with it. That has nothing to do with this person being an Obamacan for months now.

isonprize I love their energy and excitement, though. They cared enough to try something. They cared enough to speak out and protest their issue. Unfortunately, they were uninformed about Sen. Obama's stand on the issues they raised. And to add to it, there will be many folk (Republicans, mostly) who will try to say that even blacks don't like Obama.

But what I also liked was how Sen. Obama handled the situation. Can you imagine what would have happened in a McCain event? They would have been hustled outta there, with a quickness.

The cynic in me hopes that it wasn't an Obama set-up. I just think he wouldn't let the brothers go down like that. After all, he was a college professor and the one thing that was consistent in comments that I've read about his teaching days is that he was always respectful of his students.

On the other hand, I have an even more cynical thought. You never know, they may have been paid to do it. It was rather 'Rovian' I know that here in Philadelphia, during the last mayoral election, where the sole Republican mayoral candidate didn't have an ice cube's chance in hell of winning, the Republican party paid folks who were having some hard times to wear Republican campaign t-shirts and "escort" elderly voters to the polls to "help" them vote. They also paid folks to heckle candidates. There were 5 Dems running.

I'm not justifying those types of activities or the people who get paid, I'm just saying that times are hard and folks will do stuff for $$. And, contrary to popular belief, the Republican Party has plenty of that.

TruthSeeker wrote, " When Ahmadinejad says Israel is a stinking corpse....trashtalk. When Jesse says he wants to cut off Obama's nuts, it's trashtalk."

I don't know. Israel and Iran are mortal enemies.

Jesse should never be the mortal enemy of Obama. Maybe it is a 'white men can't jump' situation, instead, where Jesse and Obama are hustling fools by only pretending... but it doesn't feel like it. I think Kalamu is onto something personal regarding Jesse' crab-barreling. I hope it doesn't have anything to do with white supporters and Jesse and Obama.

And RonnieB, you're right. But what's the fix? How to make marriage and family planning attractive (again)?

taritac wrote, "If Obama wants to talk about fatherhood, he needs to address it to everyone instead of perpetuating an already negative perception others have."

Everybody else doesn't have a 69% illegitimacy rate. Blacks have special situations, and not all of those situations are somebody else's fault. We need to get it together, and we have not gotten it together by keeping it on the low low. 69% illegitimacy rate should always be unacceptable. Black men *and* black women are at fault, here.

My understanding of Jesse's 'cut his nuts off' comment was that he was mad that Obama asked black people -- specifically, black men -- to take responsibility for their actions, when society doesn't give options that allow black men to make better moral choices. That's how I understood Jesse's explanation. I think we need to move away from that. Yes, acknowledge the sins of culture, but also strive NOT to allow that to be the final answer -- because that becomes an excuse, and instead of trying to fight the system, we got too many brothers *and* sisters saying 'why should I try in the first place?'

My own question is, why is black fatherhood raising so much of a ruckus.... and not black (alleged) refusal to deal with black community hyprocisy towards AIDS and gays and STDs and sex in general? Everything Obama is doing and saying is consistent, and they ALL tie together. But suddenly Obama is 'bad news' for putting black men on blast for not taking care of their responsibilities to that tune of 69% illegitimacy rate. A number which includes Jesse Jackson and Bill Cosby themselves, for hitting their mistresses raw (NASTY!) and then for Jesse embezzling money to pay her off and her spawn off.

I think black folk need to grow up and accept the water splashed in the face. And those black men who are offended, need to look in the mirror.

taritac I could accept your comments that we need to "accept the water splashed in the face," if this were the first time these thoughts had been expressed.

Furthermore, we've said time and again that Obama is not the president of Black America. If he wants to lecture White people about their divorce rate or their drinking or their racism or their meth use, then maybe there is an argument that Obama can lecture Blacks. I don't appreciate our people being used to score political points.

i thought castration is outright fear of the penis, but that beating someone's ass or having him suck your dick is establishing your masculinity over his. who is jesse speaking for?

in About MLK being a Black Republican… on Jack and Jill Politics
Dr. King's political party is irrelevant. What matters is whether or not he would agree with McCain's policies.... or Obama's. I see how they're working, though. Blacks are seen as 'stupidly' voting for party no matter what platform is. There are better ways to deal with the monstrous hypocrisy of the Democratic party than this, however.

Republicans need to offer solutions, not fake links to the past.
