What do you think of the first six? I am happy about the 3 from the first week, although I am hoping Anoop will be a wild card. THis week I was surprised that the unforgettable guy without confidence made it through-I don't remember his name-Simon is right (as usual). Like the red head girl, Allison. And I like/love Adam-he is a modern day Elvis!

How does the Wildcard thing work?

Hey! I am sick of Idol right now because Fox news at 9 keeps showing the same horrible clips and all the supposed scoop on Idol VI-Blah-2 hours was enough. I agree the winner was not on tonight's show.

one thing that really bothered me last night was Simon's comments like, "I really like you", "I think people will like you"...and comments about looks...hmmmm.
Also why are people singing non-songs? ie the #1 Idol fan/music major? urban amish guy, too-is all the talent used up and we are now going to see all gimmick? (Apollo?)Hoping for a really good show tonigh...

Finally, just finished watching last night's show. Hmmm...totally agree with your comments. The betters were way better this time. They had better get a lot of contestants in the next few cities or the competion will be over in 3 weeks. Also they might have all 16 and 17 year old from now on-all the older talent seems to be GONE! I liked the Indiam bro and sis too. Cute. Now what do we do until next Tuesday?;D Fun idoling with you!

Hey Idol lovers. My prediction is for Antonella to go to the top three if not the top. I like her!Her praise of her best friend and hiding the comments the judges made about comparing them was endearing, too, as well as a very cool voice and good looks=winner

I think that AI allows all but the final 12 to come back and yes, it would be harsh to not make the auditions-I so called the soap opera-ness of her before they even played it up.

and yea, I still like Elliot and Elliot sound alikes-if there were such a thing!

I think that the public does not vote until the top 12. Yep, pretty sure about that.

And I am also very ready for the "real" part of AI to begin. I have not liked the general bashing of everything about the contestants-that is not what it should be about!!

I will admit it is easy, but when I am sitting there watching with my 6, 7, 9, 11 and so on kids, you hear and see it a little differently. We do a lot of talking about right and wrong things to judge the contestants on while we are watching. It just has gone a little too far this time around. Some people are just looking for ANY kind of attention...wow...can't imagine putting myself through what some of them do for it...

Busy week-just caught up with this week's shows. I don't understand that "caberet" term either-I usually like the ones that he says that about.

I think they should have shown ALL the contestants that went through, (on the extra auditions show), so they all could have some viewer familiarity and start somewhat even with the others that were televised.
YAY-next week-HOLLYWOOD! I did not like seeing my girl, Antonella saying, "I blew it," either!!

Okay, you know how my Wednesdays are(actually it was Valentine's Day not choir that conflicted this week). So, I waited to watch Wed.'s show to watch with John, but we were busy Thursday and Friday. So finally, I watched it on Sat. Enough of that...

I am generally pleased with the outcome. I think Phil, the bald dad, and Rudy look too much alike to last long, but I like Phil.

I am really glad Antonella went through.

Paul said that his lucky underwear is for the results show, so he will have a week to wash it every time-if he stays in. I like him though. (I can't believe I am commenting on a guy's underwear-but you started it-no, he started it.)

Who are your top 5 pick? It may be too early to predict since we haven't seen so many of the 24 before. I REALLY think that they should show ALL of the suditions of those who make it through!! WHy not?? It is really unfair to the ones who aren't seen by us!They could even do a whole extra show like they did of the extra auditions.

I agree with your comments about the 24 being diverse, but not pigeon-hole-able.;) I wonder if it is really true that we don't know this lot or we just don't feel connected to them(compared to the end of the show last year), hmmm. Since I only watched season 4 and 5 I can't say for sure, but I seem to remember feeling like this last year, as if I just didn't know them and wouldn't be able to know them like the previous year's group. what do you think? Interesting question for long time Idol watchers...

also-I like caberet singers, too, whatever that is.

I have enjoyed reading your blog notes. It has helped me to remember who is who and something about them. So...THANKS!!

I agree with your go home picks. I think Sanjaya's voice was lacking power and oomph. Brandon singing Cyndi Lauper?-un-uh.

Phil didn't have a weird start this time-whew. I agree with your top picks, too. I also wondered why Chris R didn't wear pink. Also thought Blake's dedication to his parents was sweet and endearing, thus appealing to a more mature generation that might not necessarily be pulling for him. He did a GREAT job of just enough of his beatbox to keep us wanting more! My kids absolutely love him-especially Mary(6).

I did not realize that Stephanie is only 19! WOW! I think I might root for her. I don't know yet. I don't care for Melinda...I wish Simon would quit saying the same thing about her. The judges must really, really like her, because they never pick on her song choice or fashion choice(which would have been fair) like they do others. They always seem very gentle and careful with her. Hmmmm

I agree with you about Sabrina. There is a glitch in her likability factor.

I agree with your going home picks...the ones that make it through better bring out the country!

I think Sanjaya and Brandon are going home. Brandon is forget-able and his voice has not been very good in the last few weeks. I like Sundance-the baby(aw) and the crying(aaaww) and besides he reminds me of Jamison;)

Yep-Phil lose the hat-definitely.

Being a huge Keith Urban fan I DID NOT like Chris Richardson's version at all. But I can see why the judges liked it...although I thought he was pitchy in the beginning. Paula has actually been saying some halfway decent, relevant things lately. Randy is the wishy washy these days.

I look forward to reading your Idol blog almost as much as watching the show. I did not care for Lakisha's performance tonight either. I like the sweet quality in Haley's voice, too. Jordin is definitely my pick, too. She is the only one that I would have been mad about going off last night and then no one did-nice surprise factor. And for the first time we voted.

I think I am ready for LaKisha to go off-she has been putting forth a 'real attitude' lately-sticking her chin out very defiantly at judging time.

I hope Phil takes Simon's advice and goes 'country' -it would be his ticket-BTW I saw a Bucky Covington music video the other day on CMT-I liked the song! He looks EXACTLY the same!

Did anyone notice that Melinda flubbed the second line of the WOMAN song? The judges didn't-John did and we went back and yep...She is incredibly good, but I would like it if she were eliminated.
btw: Jordin's second song was a producer pick and the last was her favorite song and I think Chris Sligh sang in before.
What a show Jordin and Blake would put on!! I really like them all, so I am good-yes-MUCH better than last year!!

I am with you except for Jason Castro-I don't get him. Yuck-long dreds, cluelessness or whatever...nope-don't like him.

Kind of funny that Simon said he likes the contestants to get back in his face and then gets all miffed and annoyed when they do-like David Cook saying that he has to convince the viewers, not him and Simon wigged out!!

So how did your papers come out? Did you replace your id's and such yet? (your dad told me Sunday morning about the cart incident)

I appreciate your views on Jason. That makes sense to me. He does stand out as different and his comment that there was a lot more 'not music' stuff to do is telling. John made the comment that if he didn't have the dreads that he would just look like a big goof;) So I guess his hair is helping him...

I also agree with your comment about the judges' comments not being that helpful (same as last year). I personally like finding out that David Cook is a word nerd because I am. Obviously Simon is not-anyway being a word nerd is better than being freaked out about your food touching on your plate!!

I agree with you, Jandy. I am all for David Cook and Brooke-she has so much appeal! I would get her cd, too. I feel the same way about David C as I did Chris Daughtry-I like him alot, but wouldn't buy his cd or go to his concert. He is one amazing performer though.

You are going way deep here, but here is a thought I had regarding AI and the decisions we make about liking one contestant over the other. The judges are always harping that it is a singing contest, however, by Ryan always saying, "Don't let your favorite one go home: VOTE!" The show is also telling us that likability and favoritism regardless of how the contestants did that week do matter.

So. yeah. THe fact that Taylor beat Katherine proves that the good don't always win over the ones that are liked.

I am not sure you would share my enthusiastic view of American Gladiators, especially because it is the semi finals and you would have missed all the stories up until this point. But yeah, it inspires me to work out harder than I usually do...

bummer about the last dancer to go off (boy...not sure if you are up to date;)

I like Twitch and Courtney...really I like them all...not the same as American Idol where you don't like certain people...I just enjoy watching them all dance...it makes me want to dance...hmmm...seeing a pattern here...AI makes me want to sing, Food Network makes me want to cook, Biggest loser makes me want to diet...I really am improving myself by watching TV!!
