And the groups mentioned didn't wait 15 years to be successful and it's not a matter of patience, either...if they weren't hits quickly, the label dropped them.

There's a lesson in there somewhere...but I'm not sure the lesson is the lesson Gary thinks it is.

Re: The Target is Not the Weapon

Okay, it's only 4:26am in Burbank - but let me take it one step further. I'll use Steve Garfield as an examplee, because I know him a little...take 'changing the face of broadcasting ' even FURTHER...

WHY do you want to do that? THAT is the target. That's a mission, even...which is why one of the best tools for anyone making media (or anything, really) is a mission statement.

Here's mine, written about 12 years ago but it's worked so so far - My goal is to make original, intelligent, challenging art and to help other people achieve their own artistic goals.

Re: Example of a Great PR Pitch

I think I can see why it wasn't a Seth Godin pitch. A way to go with Seth may have been to wait until you had an interesting story that related to your product - like a suprising metric or how a company used the product...but ya know, remarkable. Then I'd send that story to Seth as a paragraph or so and expect nothing in return...but at least you're trading in the same currency Seth is.

Sending this Brogan makes perfect sense. It's spam but maybe I've been to Hawaii enough where I know all Spam isn't bad. Tom made some nice spam...fried so it tastes like bacon!

Re: 100 Personal Branding Tactics Using Social Media

Brogan! This is seriously the best list of it's kind I've ever seen; it's like a step-by-step get-your-shit-together guide in list form.

Re: New Google Reader on iPhone?
