in Technical Analysis, What it is and What it is Not on Investor in the Wilderness
Good post, Ern. Your lead is great -- "analysis" is always subjective. An esteemed mentor told me, "Torture them long enough, and numbers will tell you anything you want them to."

"principal." Sadly, a common error in these lax times.

What about Toni Tony Tone's outlandish EPS projection? Setting AAPL up for a fall?

#3 rules. This is why I'm long. I'm a patient girl and knew this was a matter of time. Nowhere to go but up. Only my hubby gives me a better ride.

No, dude -- it's ZACH's spelling that sucks.

Agree with above. Macs could cure AIDS, cancer and the common cold AND resolve the mideast crisis -- the punditocracy, hedgies and MMs will still find something to drag AAPL down.

taojones Dudess!

i was just laughing at some of the chatter on Zach's blog and i realized that the market does not know how to deal with a company actually making money instead of loosing Less than expected.I think actual profit scares the market.

Good post, even though your spelling sucks. What think you about the new AAPL Mac shipping #s and their effect on today?

taojones everyone will be "surprised!" at the good news and some Pc pundit will say " apple disappoints investors" and point out that 200 percent growth in a quarter is not 300 percent and a bunch of couch potatoes will nod in agreement and sell… then Warren Buffet will swoop in and quietly add some to his pile. sorry about the spelling i was schooled in the 50's and am a victim of phonetics!

Zach Bass I think Apple is going to blow away numbers, both guidance and street. Recently Apple overtook Acer as the number 3 manufacturer of US PC makers, still a long way behind Dell and HP. There's still work to do in Europe and other overseas markets.

Apple now has their targets clearly set, being no 3 is much better than no 4. Plus Apple is the only PC maker experiencing double digit growth. I expect that to continue through the summer and school school season, allowing then to grab even more market share over Windows-based PCs.

BTW, what did I misspell?

Zach Bass I was thinking of starting a rating system for Apple analysts. perhaps the measure could be the number of days of shock therapy required.

OK, Ernest -- dead serious, I swear. 1. I detect you have a bias against longs, but that's my perception issue, not yours. 2. Do you honestly feel this stock has serious legs above 180? I'm starting to wonder. I've been a long since the 40s and haven't looked back. Like many, I feel AAPL is being manipulated to hell; over the past few weeks I've come to think that it's dead money if you're not a trader (I'm not a trader; I work for a living.). I'd like your opinion, in 25 words or less. Points deducted for spelling and jargon.
Thanks.

RIP George Carlin. Our world is far less funny and free this morning.

Zach Bass I loved all things George Carlin, agree it's a great loss.

I am bullish on Apple fundamentals, products, philosophy. But I'm a Swing Trader, fundamentally different from a long term investor like you. My investing time frame is weeks, not years. I do have a long term position with AAPL, but it has been trimmed greatly to lock in profits. It's just that the market appears to have chosen its direction, and that is down, my analysis simply reflects that, and provides guidance for other traders.

Also, you must know that I'm also incensed by AAPL manipulators, just check out my post lambasting Toni Sacconaghi over his obvious Apple manipulation.

Thanks for your reply.
