Vlad, you got me beat - my lenses earned $.28!

The one positive that I forgot to mention you picked up on, search engine rankings. I think overtime the SE's will make each lens stand on its own, but right now the Squidoo domain is pretty strong on its own.

Wallet - you can get some help here too - http://www.squidu.com/

Vlad,

It's one of the big things that a lot of affiliate managers and outsourced program managers have wanted to address. I'm not so sure that many people read my blog, but I'll see if I can get one out and reference your blog if that's ok.

You guys make some great points. Affiliate marketing is about relationships and partnerships. If one side of the partnership is unavailable, AWOL or just silent, how successful is that partnership. I'm sorry to hear that you guys deal with this so often. As an affiliate manager for many years, I learned early to always be available to my affiliates - the people who I rely on to be successful.

CJ's communication system has always been frustrating, at least from this side of the business.

There has been a myth about affiliate marketing, I honestly thought had gone away, that you just open a program and it sort of runs itself. As you guys know, that just isn't the case. Programs need that dedicated resource to work with you.

Another real good post - the more real world examples like this, the more educated online marketers become.

Thanks!

I think that in the beginning, the Internet was going to be new, new business models, new ways of doing business. But in reality it is really a new tool, a new communication method, and old world business practices still apply. Integration of the offline and online worlds will really yield the best success for affiliates.

Thanks for the compliment on our datafeeds. We try to provide our affiliates with the tools they need to be successful. We just launched coupon feeds as well. Thanks for letting me join in :)

Great Post! Affiliates that expand their marketing toolbox beyond ppc marketing are going to continue to perform above expectations. I've been seeing a trend lately that those partners that focus on driving traffic by one method often are at the mercy of that method. Those that diversify (PR, Offline Lists, Email Marketing, Word of Mouth, Viral) often do better and build sustainable, long term businesses. Great post!
