in What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever given or received? on Carrie and Danielle
The best relationship advice: People don't remember what you said. They remember how you made them feel. The way you treat people will always come back to you. Always.

in What are your 3 top priorities this week? on Carrie and Danielle
1. Focus on our business: get clarity and direction.
2. Focus on my family: go on a date with my husband.
3. Focus on self: finish the painting I started five month's ago.

Welcome Linda! If motivation to exercise is a problem, have you tried tricking yourself? I down-loaded Robin William's performance onto my iPod and went for a stroll. It was so funny that I didn't want to stop. (May have had a few odd looks as I walked along giggling to myself like a lunatic...) Before I knew it, I'd walked for nearly an hour!

So true. And like a child with its parents, we can't possibly expect the answer to our prayers to be 'yes' all the time. "No" is just as legitimate an answer.

Nicely put! God is in the details, right? I think of the people on the street, in line, wherever as angels sometimes. They carry a message that you need at the exactly the right time. They don't look ethereal or flap around with wings. But they're there. I once heard someone say, "Only children and the blind can see angels."

Alanis Morisette was an interesting image of God in the film, "Dogma". What did you think of that?

Oh Sharon - how beautifully put. I'm pretty sure I did too. My six-year-old makes me believe in fairies. That's God to me - the wonder, the joy, the beauty.

You are ALL so wonderful to help me with this. I think I'm going to have to find myself a yoga class. Even though I can't do it in heels, at least I don't have to do it in running shoes. I look like a muppet in running shoes.

I know, Joannie - and I LOVE tall men! The taller the better!

Kristin - I so hear you. Why do people say that? It's not like they'd ever dream of saying, "Oh! You're so fat!" I used to be a high school teacher and nearly every one of my students was bigger than me. I often get asked, "How tall ARE you?" to which my standard reply is, "Tall enough."

Check out Gok Wan in "How To Look Good Naked". He's unabashedly pro-female and absolutely lovely. It's a channel 4 production that airs on the W network in Canada.

I *did* try the false eyelashes once. Once. Thinking that I looked so glamourous, I was chatting up a very handsome man who started looking at me strangely...one of the false lashes had unglued itself and was making like a caterpillar crawling down my cheek.

Needless to say, the chatting up ceased rather abruptly as I fled and vowed to stay far away from the dreadful things. (The lashes, not the men.)

Oh so so true! Comparison is crazy-making. Ergo, I am crazy. I'm also short, curvy and tend toward the "cute". On the upside, I always had someone to dance with in high school because the boys wanted to dance with girls who were shorter than them. Now, I'd just like to be able to reach things.

THAT is a perfect explanation. I will use that when Nic is frustrated by her upcoming grade one homework. Thank you!

in What would you like your home to say about you? on Carrie and Danielle
Our home has a personality disorder. It's ninety years old, but been renovated so many times by so many differently-minded owners that it's...bizarre. It says, "I'm classic! I'm seventies! I'm Wayne's World in the basement. I'm traditional. I'm Brady Bunch fireplace. I don't know what I am! Help me..."

Oh yes....Kevin Henkes has created a world that my daughter adores! Especially lovely is Julius: The Baby of the World. I always laugh when I read, "...that story earned her ten minutes in the uncooperative chair..."

Whether or not you have children, every adult should read at least one children's book on a monthly basis - just to keep perspective. My favourite is "Oh! The Places You'll Go" by the best fun-concocter doctor there is: Dr. Seuss! I always read that to my grade twelve students on their last day of class with me.

Excellent! I'm glad to hear that because I ordered some of her products. Her honesty is what got me: "This is all you need - this is what it should realistically cost. Go forth and be beautiful." Glad to hear that you've had such success with them. Thank you, Gloria!

Oh, that this were true. Alas, I don't know how to fix a server. Other than tip him very well.
