Full details here:

http://www.allaboutiphone.net/2008/02/bbc-progr...

Cheers
Matt

Re: The Tao of Mac - Apple Statement About Servicing iPhone

IANAL, but I wonder how this fares under the EU's Consumer Guarantee Directive?

"If you purchase goods or services from another EU Member State and they were advertised in your country, you are protected under consumer law of your home country. "

(from http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/co...)

So if I bought an iPhone on a day trip to France I am protected if it goes wrong, as the same device is on sale in the UK.

However, it is fair not to expect Apple to provide a replacement if an unofficially unlocked iPhone is bricked during a service upgrade.

Re: Sonim’s Xtreme Performance 3 handset arrives here shortly

Obligatory:

Will it blend?

Re: No GPRS for iTunes or 10MB files allowed

Are you sure about the no GPRS? I managed to use the store over GPRS - see the screenshot with this article:
http://www.allaboutiphone.net/2009/01/itunes-st...

I wouldn't bother with it again unless I was desperate though - it's slooooooooooooooooow.

Matt

Re: Top 10 tell tale signs your phone is on the way out

Points 1, 2 and 7 - yes, yes and yes. One of the most successful phones last year was the INQ1. The Synergy feature of the Pre could be marketed as essentially "Facebook plus" - taking the idea of the INQ further, to encompass all your contacts. That would be a good sell - everything in one place.

He's right about the timeframe though - everything that's currently special about the Pre can be rolled into other platforms fairly rapidly, so they will need to quickly garner mainstream press and capture mindshare . Right now there's a lot of blogger buzz, but my Mum doesn't quiz me about it like she does the iPhone...

Re: UCWeb mobile browser - 64 million downloads worldwide

You can also get UCWeb for jailbroken iPhones - add this source to Cydia:

http://wap.ucweb.com/iphone/cydia

Re: Mr Operator: Palm Pre - destined for European failure

That's not just a problem with the G1 - fingernails are also the reason my wife won't buy an iPhone.
