in Decoding the Obama-Clark Dis on The Washington Independent
General Clark is a statesman, soldier and actually won 2 primaries in 2004 which included Arkansas. Let General Clark tell his story why he CHOSE to be a Democrat on a night when national security is the theme. I believe he would be an excellent VP choice. He has spent the last 3 years working tirelessly for Democratic candidates and doesn't deserve to be dismissed like some ward healer.

in Clinton Running Like Old Guard Humphrey on The Washington Independent
It's ironic that the first presidential vote I cast was for George McGovern when I was senior at Boston University, but I always held Hubert Humphrey in high regard. I was fortunate to have classes with the likes of Howard Zinn and Murray Levin. I am surprised at the constant berating of Hillary Clinton by you and the media that characterizes her as employing a desperate strategy. Politics is a vigorous process and the voters in the primaries should decide. You talk of Hillary Clinton trying to subvert the process via supergelagates, but it's curious that Barack Obama is aggressively pursuing them with no mention from you or the media. Hubert Humphrey had the already lost an election in 1968 and came into 1972 with
some prior history. It seems like party establishment is anathama to you, but here is a newsflash. Barack Obama was supported by the Illinois Democratic Party. According to your thesis, Hillary Clinton as Hubert Humphrey before her was just too old when the "young turks" showed up and the voters should categorically dismiss her as a relic of antiquiy. It's funny but I guess I have finally become "old school".

in Clinton Undermining His Elder Statesman Standing on The Washington Independent
Mr. Dallek,
If Bill Clinton honestly believes his wife is the most qualified, then what should he wait for? I didn't see the outrage when First Lady Barbara Bush described Hillary is a word that ryhmes with "witch". Elections are hard and difficult and mistakes in judgement and tone can be made. The press dislikes Hillary just as they disliked Al Gore. Do you think America still wants to have a beer with George Bush? I thought so!
