And the problem your experiencing happens with alot of games. I believe its a kind of protection used to make sure you actually own the game. The most common way I know to get around it is nocd cracks. A popular site is

http://www.gamecopyworld.com/

Also I think daemon tools and a couple other programs will work.
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5

You may wana pick up these tools also, MagicISO or ISOBuster. Very versatile programs.

Re: XP: Small, Free Way to Use and Mount Images (ISO files) Without Burning Them | Windows | Tech-Recipes

No problem, the last two programs are just for working with images but can be very useful. I think they go by external ip,cookies, and maybe other things but I don't think they care about your internal address or MAC. It doesn't work for me when I tried. I'm not on a network anymore so I couldn't change my internal ip and changing my MAC doesn't work because of my ISP. Also in a Virtual machine where you have a different internal ip and MAC,no history and no cookies it still didn't work.

Nice post by the way, very interesting.

Re: RapidShare: NIC tricks and MAC cloning to bypass download limit | Internet | Tech-Recipes

ahh ok. I'm an idiot. Nevermind I was missing the hole restart the modem so you get a different external address. very cool. Sorry bout that

Re: RapidShare: NIC tricks and MAC cloning to bypass download limit | Internet | Tech-Recipes

Welcome Hova!

MAC(Media Access Control) is a hardware address to identify a particular node(adapter) on a network. (Ex. 00-AA-00-9E-81-9E) The first 3 bytes(00-AA-00) are the manufactures ID and the last 3 are a unique serial.

To find your MAC on MacOSX check this url for a graphical explanation.
http://www-dcn.fnal.gov/DCG-Docs/mac/MAC-OS-X.html

A NIC(Network Interface Card) is used for communicating over a network.

To reset your modem, you can usually unplug it for a couple of seconds or hold in the reset button. To bridge you must have two NICs. In this case you would bridge both NICs together. For a NT and Mac tutorial on this go here...

http://wiki.pearpc.net/index.php/Bridging_for_Windows_XP/Vista

Googling will reveal so much more info on this stuff.

NIC:

<img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/9e/Network_card.jpg/200px-Network_card.jpg"></img>

Re: Hide the Safely Remove Hardware Icon from System Tray | Windows | Tech-Recipes

I have the same thing happining, which it should happen because satas are plug n play, but I have no clue on how to get that icon off just for the sata drive and not effecting anything else. The only thing I could find is a program that supposedly allows you to do what your talking about but no manual methods like editing a file or registry key.

http://www.safelyremove.com/

Re: Hide the Safely Remove Hardware Icon from System Tray | Windows | Tech-Recipes

This allows you to remove and do some other useful things in a batch file or script.
