in Tom Crean talks recruiting, kind of on Inside the Hall
If a recruit gets an offer from IU and he is concerned about scholarships- the answer is simple--accept early.

If Chris or you are concerned or anyone else, CTC is correct--he does the recruiting. I can imagine what Bob Knight's answer would have been to that question. Just because we have the internet, this site,Peegs,, Hoosier nation etc.--that does not create an inalienable right to know everything about the recruiting process. The question was absurd.

plane1972 You're correct, Tom, that we do not have an inalienable right to recruiting knowledge, and Coach is playing it close to the vest as he should, but I don't think the question was absurd.

The problem is expecting a clear answer when coaches have to toe a fine line not to release too much information on recruiting. That is why I think the coach was puking all over himself trying to give even a somewhat coherent answer. I can't say I was entirely comforted by his comments, but I don't think anyone should lose sleep over them either.

in Eric Gordon: Perception vs. reality on Inside the Hall
EJ will be a better pro than college player because he will not be double teamed, his assists will go up due to higher quality teammates, and he will score off breaks.Obviously, his turnovers must decrease.

in Devink Ebanks’ high school career now over; Memphis talk picks up steam on Inside the Hall
Let him go. The reason Sampson got in trouble was kissing up to certain guys. Memphis is a good spot for those guys.

in Big Ten title: Who ya got? on Inside the Hall
Wisconsin got gifts from the refs against both IU and OSU recently. Wisconsin wins out. Best we can do is finish tied with them and get a second seed in tournament. Purdue loses at least one more unless refs let them keep fouling like against Minnesota.

in Devin Ebanks to Memphis? on Inside the Hall
First, I am not sure if he's qualified yet which means Memphis would give him an academic scholarship. Second, I know Holloway has not qualified yet. If they have the right to opt out, tell them not to let the door-you know the rest. Sampson got into phone trouble recruiting marginal students-- check the names. We don't need to continue begging for basketball players.

in Ebanks still a Hoosier - for now on Inside the Hall
Ebanks and Holloway are both borderline academically. I am not sure Holloway is qualified yet and Ebanks may not be either. So there is more than one reason to be worried about them.

Nick Okay, I hate to be the pessimist here, but could someone explain to me why the heck KS cheated in the first place to get four players, the best of whom is a player that chose us over Rutgers and Miami. Now, I'm not a basketball analyst by no means, but I don't remember Rutgers or Miami being named recently as a recruiting powerhouse. So why are we so excited about four kids who picked Indiana over schools like these? If KS was going to cheat you would at least think he would've picked up a couple players that were on Duke's list, or even UK or UNC!!!

in The Morning After: Michigan State on Inside the Hall
Good summary. Phelps has his head so far up Knight's ass, I am surprised he is still breathing. Vitale is so repetitive and ass kissing for Knight. He hates IU and uses Sampson as his fall guy. He never once analyzed the game. If he ever sets foot in AH again-boo him relentlessly and egg him. Sampson-why? its just phone calls but why? Bilas was spot on- the 7 day investigation is for the sole purpose to suspend/fire Sampson early. If they do it early(mind you I think he should be fired once the process has run its course and if he is found in violation) then, I'd like to see the players walk out because CKS wasn't given the full time the NCAA allows. Pray to God the DJ is O.K. He deserves nothing but the best.

Having Greenspan do an investigation is equivalent to having Cheney do an investigation of Bush. The end result that should happen is simple:fire Sampson,Greenspan, and any trustee that supported Sampson.

in Ripe for an upset? Not so fast on Inside the Hall
Iu has a margin for error- Minnesota does not. Unless Hightower flew from Lubbock to Minneapolis to ref or T.Hillary is there, I am not worried. Gordon does need to shoot close to 20 times or Bassett,Crawford, and Ratliff need to be on target.DJ should dominate.

in Q and A: ESPN’s Pat Forde on Inside the Hall
Dykes is an SEC apologist and UK apologist. He is the one that said "if GT had Gordon, they would have won"==an idiot. Forde's comments about CKS are biased. Need I remind you we are talking about phone calls--not paying players like UCLA or UK.

in Film Session: Gordon’s ridiculous range on Inside the Hall
Gordon-Rayl-Edwards-Alford-Evans. I was at the Michigan game and his shot appears effortless. Rayl's range was like Ron Bonham's--anywhere past midcourt;Edwards had the high arc;Evans was a pretty shot and Alford was great. Matt Roth will be the next one.

in The Morning After: Iowa on Inside the Hall
The team is doing what the coaches want on hedging and offense.Lighten up. CKS was quoted as saying :"some teams pass the ball 4-5 times while we drive and dish or shoot--that's who we are"-or words to that effect. Craw ford played a decent game with Bassett hurt. Complainers like you above are laughable. We get to the foul line more than any team in the country. We scored almost 80 points against a team that gives up 55 a game. If not for the Twilight Zone shooting of Johnson , we would have won by double figures. Sometimes our offense isn't pretty- but usually its effective. Admittedly, we needed more assists--but give credit to Iowa--they did not prepare in a vaccuum and they were emotional.

in ITH Super Happy Fun Time Big Ten Preview: Spartans of Michigan State on Inside the Hall
In their last game , Walton and Lucas had 17 assists and 0 turnovers---they are the point guards regardless of your insistence on Neitzel which is equivalent to calling Gordon our point guard because he has a high percentage of possessions.

in ITH Super Happy Fun Time Big Ten Preview: Spartans of Michigan State on Inside the Hall
Neitzel is NOT a point guard--Walton and Lucas are the point guards. MSU has no one that can guard DJ. Ellis will contain Morgan, Our five guards will outplay MSU's guards. Enough said--IU in a cakewalk.Morgan is a 3 mostly, sometime a 4--not a post player.Your analysis is bad.

in Sampson scoffs at question about schedule on Inside the Hall
I will repeat a previous post--"some people are not happy unless their unhappy". To many whiners instead of enjoying the moment. Short memories of Davis when we were complaining of to tough a schedule. I think reporters and some fanbase are spoiled. You whiners need to focus on the positives or go root for UK.

in Hoops Weiss on EJ, Dickie V takes a leave from ESPN on Inside the Hall
If Gordon had chose Duke instead of IU----he would have been labeled the best college guard since the Big "O"--which he is in fact and the pro scouts know it. As for Dickie V, another poster put it best:" I pray that it is not life threatening or an ongoing health problem, but that it is career ending.", or words to that effect. I second that thought.

No comments? The kid is going to set the Illinois 3 point record for God's sake! I applaud you, Matt and I am really glad you chose IU. Apparently, most posters would rather whine about insignificant stuff then recognize your achievements.

in Is the non-conference schedule too soft? Yes, it is on Inside the Hall
You schedule complainers are the people CKS refers to when he says "some people are not happy unless their unhappy". Also goes to whiners in November about lack of defense, rebounding, offense etc. You could have Davis as a coach or be a UK fan. To many spoiled fans.

in Know Thy Opponent: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Inside the Hall
Isn't 2 losses in a row to Duke enough? IU cannot beat Duke plus the zebras and neither will Wisconsin. I expect Ryan to get a technical by half time. I don't need to watch the game to predict the outcome--Duke plus zebras=victory over Wisconsin. Ask Marquette and Illinois. Duke will get 10 no calls and Wisconsin will be called for breathing on Duke. The zebras will make it up to Wisconsin during Big 10 home games where Wisconsin receives their fair share of home cooking.

This Tom doesn't dislike any IU players. I also believe the critics of this team are downright spoiled. My golly, it was their first game. Some of you want perfection. Give them a break- they play their hearts out. The intensity of Gordon,White, and basset will carry over to the others.Ellis is a real asset. Stemler will have some good games also.
