Simplicity is great, but with twitter I just want to interact more with my followers. Something's missing. At least 1 or 2 features. Twitter needs to work on it's stability issues first though.

If it helps to know, I don't use any ad blockers. I block them manually through Firefox's built in adblock feature. No need to make everyone suffer.

As for that site...I don't see how it's still surviving. How can you possibly want to comment on anything they write with all that extra crap in your face?

Nevertheless, *I* was only referring to the comments coming back to the original blog article. This would be confusing as hell to be integrated with Twitter. Strictly blogs, nothing more.

Great article Matt, but I must say that...I'm not with Scoble on this issue. But it is kind of ironic that Facebook wouldn't allow you to scrape it, but it will scrape other services to benefit it's service.

I highly doubt it would rake in that much money or generate more than 30-million and grow exponentially or even at all to that amount or beyond that amount. I think it's totally unrealistic for ANY ad model they put into these applications. It would have to be several apps generating that much. Not just one.

I had no clue that they didn't have trackback links.

Regardless, I think Disqus is a neat system and can be very useful when dealing with comments. So many people forget to come back and check for replies and I think it solves that problem and allows for the conversation to continue, when it usually dies out because people forget to come back and respond.

They should definitely be combined! I think it's only fair. You're excluding A LOT of people when you don't. A lot of things are going digital and some people would rather watch these shows online when they have time, then to rush home and drop everything they're doing just to see it on TV. Watching shows online allow for more flexibility. It's convenient and should not be left out in the cold. For some, that's all they can do. They don't have time to tune in at 8pm every night the show comes on. But maybe on Wednesday at 3pm they'll have a nice amount of time to watch and enjoy.

That's exactly how I feel when it comes to this site. I remember seeing a plugin that helps, but everytime I tried to download it, the freaking site was down or there was some sort of error.

@Elliott Ng - Yes GridFocus has 3 columns, though the RSS icons aren't nearly as big. =P There are screenshots of the theme at the link I provided for the Grid Focus theme. The RSS icons came with the current theme I'm using. No extra plugins or alterations necessary. And no cheating lol!

Say it's an RC when it could most definitely be an actual release of WordPress 2.5.

The noise level is really high and the echo chamber effect is definitely a problem. However, all of these are just side effects because every aggregation of the same item is necessary to some extent. Some people hide all Twitter items. That's ok, get it through to them through Google Reader or your blog posts.

As for the echo chamber effect, stop following so many A-listers or just don't follow people in the same circles because you'll get everyone's news from one person if you're choose wisely.

I highly doubt FriendFeed did this as a direct strike to Facebook since both services serve different purposes.

Facebook could learn quite a bit from FriendFeed, but I just don't see them as direct competitors, even with similar features. The PURPOSES are different.

They would get heated over something like this. Police officers catch a lot of flak these days and a lot of them have become morally corrupt (among other things).

Still, it's interesting to note how there are a million sites to follow just about every person IN the US and not a damn one that actively follows our government and it's officials like this site would.

Though I'm taking no sides in the matter I loved this post! You definitely set a lot of things into perspective that Jason Calacanis should've done himself to begin with.

Someone at Techcrunch wrote that Calacanis should've taken more time to write the post and maybe he wouldn't have gotten half of the reactions he's gotten (though I think that was his point). Nevertheless, I'm glad he didn't because it's bringing about a great debate on the issue...

Plus, we're seeing who's a true friend (I'd say that's you) and who's merely in the game for powerful alliances...

I've definitely been reaching 'the right audience' for SheGeeks. And I agree that companies should not make the word 'blog' into a corporate and capitalistic icon! They need to come up with their own world that has no relations to the word blog, because blogging isn't something that they do.
