PC manufacturers started selling low budget computers years ago because hardware prices were dropping, and their only way to recoup the drop was to invest in laptop sales.  Once again, hardware price is dropping, only this time it's in the laptop market.  Manufacturers need to realize conduits for information, such as computers and the Internet, will always eventually drop to zero.
