I imagine most soccer fans in the US would be happy to see games on ESPN, if only because it would make games more accessible.

Fox Soccer Channel does a great job, but ever since Setanta got a piece of the action, the games have been a) harder to see since Setanta is only available with certain providers and b) more expensive.

A split between FSC and ESPN would work out nicely.

The Setanta Premium thing is bad news. Seems reasonable to me that if you're willing to subscribe to Setanta in the US, then Setanta should make as many games available to you as possible. Instead they're taking some of the most attractive games (if you're an England fan) and placing them out of your reach to make even more money.

It's like they've taken the idea of watching a game in a pub and commercialized it that little bit more.

Have to feel bad for Rigobert Song. He's been solid all tournament and then the goal came from his only mistake. Great to see Aboutreika get the winner though. Apparently he started the tournament with flu, but he's been back in shape the last couple of games and great to watch. I'd love to see him in the Prem too. If I was Keggy Keegan I'd be talking to Al-Ahly and seeing how much of Mike Ashley's money they want for him.

No word on a price yet, but I got a verbal confirmation on the phone that it's definitely going ahead.
