in Google Calendar Available Offline on Marketing Pilgrim
Looks like I picked a good time to migrate to Gmail from Outlook earlier this month. I take for granted that there was a time before Gears enables mail and calendar offline.

I like it for travel, since there are times, like on the plane, where I want to be able to access that stuff.

The one thing I don't like about Google Calendar over Outlook is having to have it open in a browser to get reminders.

in Why Faceless Untargeted Ads Will Exist For a Long Time on Chris Brogan
Hey Chris -

Did you rotate the AdSense and Amazon ads in the same spot at the same time?

I'm not sure where all of your ad placements are located, but I see the FreshBooks ad goes direct to the program and not through an ad server.

If you're not using one, I'd highly recommend the hosted version of OpenX: http://www.openx.org/ad-server/get-openx-hosted

They provide lots of analytics to look deeper into which ad placements are working for your audience.

in Seth Godin Advocates Click Fraud? Wha? on 1115 Media
Good points, Mike. Like you mention, there are options out there for sites to put out a tip cut if they wish.

I wonder what Google would think if the visitors to his Squidoo site start doing that with the AdSense ads?

in New commenting feature: Edit comments inline on DISQUS Blog and Forum
Makes sense - if I deleted a comment that received comments on one of my blogs, would it remove the responses?

I replied today via email and it included my email sig with contact info, which I would rather not have displayed.

in New commenting feature: Edit comments inline on DISQUS Blog and Forum
Does this only work for a comment at the end of a comment thread?

I have a comment in the middle of a series of comments that I want to edit, and there is no edit option.

There is only an option for the very last comment I made in that thread.

in 2008/03/17/ebay-partner-network/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
> Services like Commission Junction are great for small and mid-size publishers that don’t have the resources to recruit their own affiliates – a problem that eBay doesn’t have.

Just a couple clarifications for you. The term "publisher" is synonymous with "affiliate" - eBay is an "advertiser" in the world of affiliate marketing.

Also, your point doesn't hold water. eBay has been on CJ since 2001. I think a case could be made that eBay has long been a household name and would have left many years ago if using an affiliate network were only about recruiting affiliates.

Additionally, the Commission Junction roster is packed with companies that would not be considered merely "small and mid-size", such as Apple, BestBuy, Dell, HP and Staples.

in Affiliate Summit Video Footage on Jim Kukral
I've been tortured for the past three days for not having my camera on when you did the Segway dance.

But the clip lives on in my head, and I shall refer to it often in the future.

I ended up filming a couple dozen people on the Segway throughout the day - just hoping for one Kukral moment.

Alas, that magic was never to happen again.

I guess I need to start doing more vids of me falling off a skateboard or fighting high school kids to get the big views on YouTube.

Interesting, but I wonder if they will provide more and better data than TubeMogul?

Also, I like that I can get aggregated data across all of the video sites on TubeMogul.

YouTube comes in 4th or 5th place for me for views compared to other video sites.

Sam Harrelson That's amazing... you'd think they'd blow away the other video platforms given their reach.

I vote for you to wear one of those special boob vests that Robert De Niro wore in "Meet the Fockers" for all future episodes of the Daily Flip.

I think he does some funny stuff, and certainly has a following.

That said, he was in the wrong here.

Like everybody else. he didn't read the terms. But he had to know he was using protected material without permission.

He does have a point that they should send notices to their internal mail system, too.

I get false positives in my spam folder all the time.

in Twitter Should Be A Two-Way Conversation, Not One-Way Like Most Use It on Jim Kukral
Hey Jim -

I agree that it should be a two-way communication, and I try to follow most anybody who elects to follow me.

But some folks are tweetaholics that hammer out many dozens of tweets per day.

That's excessive to me and I typically unfollow them.

One bit of collateral damage if you drop Facebook is that you will no longer be on the Affiliate Summit advisory board, since that's where the group resides. ;-)

in I Love Twitter, But I Have To Quit It on Jim Kukral
Hey Jim -

I was like that at one point, and I just cut down on the number of people I followed.

So far today, I just have a few dozen Tweets.

One way I streamlined was to stop following people who weren't following me.

Sort of hard to have a conversation with them if they don't see my Tweets.

in Amazon Affiliates Burned At The Stake By Kindle? on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
I believe the first iPods were also quite expensive, and they have gained traction.

Apples and oranges. Walkmans and other personal stereos were already hugely popular before MP3 players.

The iPod was just an evolution of the Walkman IMHO.

If this takes off internationally, I know it will help students who sometimes have major problems buying or borrowing required books from libraries (at least here in Poland)

Agreed that it could have a good application in that respect. Having worked with medical books sold online in the past, I know there is certainly a need internationally for those sorts of titles.

But novels and the latest popular non-fiction? I don't see it.
