I don't believe for a second that inerrancy and authority are inextricably linked. I noted some similar thoughts in this post. Give it a read if you have some time. :-)

Re: Here’s to You. How??? Why???

Let's forget for a moment that I actually enjoyed 300 and No Holds Barred, I just can't fathom how such a classic cinematic masterpiece such as Gordy Berry's The Last Dragon could ever be placed on such a dispicable list. Daddy Green's Pizza; Sho-Nuff; Jive talking fortune cookie makers; Breakin' 2: Electric Boogalooesque escapes from rope restraints; Vanity as Laura Charles... What's not to like?!!

I shall pray for your poor, obviously lost, and now in my sight, apostate, soul. :(

Re: Worst Action Flick Marathon Ever

I just did a top 10 worst action flicks list. I was sure to mention your heresy, and also not to repeat any of the awful selections that you chose (although if the list were extended most of your picks would make it). :)

Re: Best Action Flick Marathon Ever

Drew,

A couple of things in response.

(1) I did not show a lack of imagination; only appreciation for great movie franchises. ;)

(2) You said: "I could watch the entire Die Hard series back-to-back with no problem. Best action movie franchise ever. Hands down."

Well hallelujah! At least you got one thing right! ;)

(2) When you listed Collateral (Tom Cruise), I thought you meant Collateral Damage (Arnold Schwarzenegger). I almost cursed out loud! :-P

(3) Braveheart is the greatest movie ever and in a class all its own. I don't know that it fits a category like "action flick." Perhaps "awesome flick" is more appropriate.

(4) Good call with Batman Begins, I forgot to include that on my list (to which I would add the original Batman and Batman Returns).

(5) Some sci-fi flicks cross over into the action genre, so The Matrix and Alien counts (so would Predator which is also an awesome movie!).

I could say much more but I will cut it off at the number of grace. :)

Re: Best Action Flick Marathon Ever

Yeah, I enjoyed both of those,Total Recall more than Running Man (but that for a perverted reason, as I was not saved when I saw either) -- I'm sure you can figure out what that is. ;)

Re: The Friday Rundown: Blogging, Death, Learning, and Urine

If I don't comment on the deeper posts, it's because I'm too stupid to do so. But there was little interaction in that, and the chat room interaction was always the same thing with the same people, and truth be told, I was quite bored with it. So I started blogging to attract a different type of interaction. As time went on I expanded from apologetic topics to other stuff, and now, to be quite honest, I blog for the free books! ;)

Oh, and I quite agree with the "infamous" Jim West above, if I'm in the mood to read something that's long, I'll pick up a book. I value blogs for their succinctness.

Re: Do We Blog For Fame?

Drew,

I think that if people only kept tabs on 1 or 2 blogs then long posts wouldn't be so much of a problem, but as it stands, most folks have somewhere between 30-100 blogs in their feed readers. Those long posts have to be exceptionally captivating in order to keep someone's attention while they still have another couple of dozen blogs to skim through.

Re: Top 10 Sources of Idolatry in Culture Today

I'll give my top 10 amongst professing Christians (in no particular order, sorry):

Humanism (i.e., the type that always asks what God can do for "me")
Pacifism
Egalitarianism
Complementarianism
Universalism
The Bible
Creationism
Environmentalism
Israel
Spiritual Gifts

Re: Earth Not Idolatry

I need no ploys to boost my Technorati ratings. This is why Barack Obama is still not able to close the nomination because there is, scarily enough, a huge number of people in this country who don’t really want or care for change. It is so easy to believe he’s a Muslim (and hate him for that and hence reject his candidacy) than to learn more about what he stands for and if he has what it takes to be the leader of the free world.

Julie,

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, there are those folks who are ignorant enough to vote for Obama just because he's black, regardless of his qualifications or politics. I was watching the evening news last night and I'd estimate about 85%-90% of the black voters interviewed said that they were voting for Obama because they liked the idea of a black man running the country.

Re: Transcendent Films

I think we have similar taste in movies. Chicago is one of my favorite bands. I'd add Sheila E. to the mix, even if she isn't a "rock" drummer per se (although, Run DMC did call themselves the "kings of rock" in the time period when she was coming into her own.
