I have a neighbor who got into flipping in 2000, quit his job a rode the boom times for a time (quite successfully). Now he doesn’t seem to know what to do. He, like many, thought the good times will never end. He still refuses to go back into the corporate world, endlessly thinking the market is turning around. He lost a great deal of money on his last two flips and has at least one more as a rental. He was able to cover it because he actually did put back money from the “good” times but, through our conversations and his stress level as of late, I suspect that is running low. He has taken up general contracting and remodeling for existing homeowners. I am amazed at his optimism as he continues trying to get back into a flip.

Osheaga has done a nice job securing some big headliners, but overall this is a pretty weak line-up. I was planning on going but I think I'll skip this one. Unless VFest Torontro announces something soon, I think I may spend my festival budget on a trip to Chicago for Pitchfork.

Adam for Rogers Picnic, did you just get a date, or is there any indication of when that line-up would be announced?

Thanks for the update Adam. Great news about Rogers Picnic...despite the bad weather (and headliner) last year, that was a really great line-up and a fun show.

I have lost faith that VFest Toronto is happening.

Whether Muse can headline or not, I hope they don't start repeating bands that have already played this quickly.

Hmm, I'm not sure about Muse as a headliner. As great as they are live, I just don't see them as a headliner yet.

I wish they would say something, even just update the website with "2009 info coming soon"...even though it only appears to be 3-4 of us that are anxiously awaiting info.

It would be nice if some VFest info leaked if the line-up is(hopefully) going to be announced on Monday.

Arcade Fire would be great, but like Portishead, I don't see that happening. Maybe The New Pornographers or Chromeo for some Canadian content.

Same here, I think if you arrive a bit early the lines aren't an issue. I waited longer for the Broken Social Scene shows than I ever did for V Fest.

Jesus & Mary Chain and Pixies would both be great Debaser. You know the actual lineup will not be that good. The are taking less risks each year.

Okay, you proved me wrong...but I'm thinking of the banners that were all over downtown - I still think those had the Killers below the Pumpkins, and I remember being super annoyed by it.

I was also thinking of The Beastie Boys and The Cure. Depeche Mode I doubt since they are in Toronto on 7/24. Other than those two and Blur, I was thinking of The Verve, Chemical Brothers, Franz Ferdinand and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but they would all be subs as well. I would love to see Portishead there.

I'm sure I remember the posters for that show went Pumpkins, Killers, Bjork in that order for the headliners.
