I personally don't use opt in generator

I really believe that the opt in list is most effective when your prospects actually 'opt in' to your list.

Scrapping emails from your in box and such tactics is bound to result in a whole bunch of unopened emails

And the honest truth is 'at what stage does it become spam?'

I have never bought links before but one of my sites went from PR4 to PR 2. But it is still ranking number 1 in Google SERPs for my keyword, and my traffic is increasing!!

The honest truth is I noted my PR out of curiousity and not an over-riding need to increase it.

I suppose for internet marketers selling links on their blogs, page rank is important as the cost of the links is tied in to this

For the rest of us who monetize our sites via adsense and affiliate links, i wonder if page rank is so important?

Seems that we are splitting hairs over something we have no control over

Frustrating that the rules keep getting changed on us webmasters. As a newbie to the affiliate marketing arena compared to all of those who have commented above, it really is becoming increasingly difficult to establish a presence online.

The advantages that earlier marketers had when trying to eastablish their sites eg no 'no follow' attributes are not available to us.

I think I understand that Google is trying to produce a fair system but with some of the rules, I think ethical marketers can be hurt as much as scammers

Just some clarification on the first link thing. If I find some really obscure keyword phrase that has never before been used as an anchor link and use it to my benefits, what is the benefit of this. If the term is so obscure as an anchor link, what are the chances that ranking for this in the search engines getting a ton of searches

My biggest beef is all those products that promise to show you how to get a ton of traffic to your website and turn out to be the same old stuff rehashed

Agree with you.

But I think a big reason a lot of people fail in internet marketing is FALSE EXPECTATIONS.

So many products peomising to make the purchaser rich overnight if you implement this or that. And they run out and buy the product and faithfully implement the tips and nothing happens....So they quit trying so hard

Most of the tips probably work, but it is a business, affiliate marketing and it takes a lot of hard work and dedication and time to see a cheque

I think I got my first cheque 4 months after i came into the business.

Could easily have quit in those 4 months but glad I didn't

Your article is so true. The market is overrun with these products

I think that a sign of a real guru is one who actually gives useful content free

One such example is Mike Liebner of article underground. The free stuff, videos, he give away are just so useful.

When I first started out in this business, I got the exact same advice from a guru and quickly subscribed to a cart load of junk

Several unsubscribes later, I can approach my mail box without too much trepidation

I really think internet marketing 'gurus' have a responsibility to make sure that the 'free' advice that they are giving to newbies is accurate and clear

I don't know, i really think that domain parking is such a waste of time.

The amount of money that you make from domain parking is so little compared to the possible income if you build a minisite for the same domain name and monetize it

I think people have cottoned on to the fact that the domain name plays a very small role in search engine optimization. So unless you are a big company that needs a domain with it's name in it and that domain is already taken, i am not sure why people pay a premium for domain names any more.

You are right up to a point. The title of any blog post is important but I find that often when going for one search phrase, the post ranks well fo another

So I tend to write naturally now. And it still pulls in search engine traffic.
