in NFL Knowledge of Bumetanide-Spiked Supplement Exposed Players to Significant Health Risks on Steroid Report
There's more coverage of this unfolding story -

The StarCaps site looks like the product is marketed mostly to non-athletic women, which makes this case rather odd. (Why are NFL players taking TV-watching womens' diet pills to make weight when there are a lot of "fat burners" that are marketed more appropriately to athletes?)

The StarCaps site is full of celebrity and Hollywood party photos - lots of entertainment, botox, and glitter, but few athletes. Nikki Haskell, the promoter of StarCaps has been photographed with Ivana Trump, stars, producers, etc.

and even with George Bush!

Far from being an athlete, Nikki Haskell actually has a baggy tricep, which can be seen in a pic near the top of this page -

in Dara Torres Takes Moral High Ground Despite Use of Performance Enhancing Drugs on Steroid Report
Hello Millard -

This is just an FYI about a commentary AND an editorial in the well-known journal _Nature_. I think you might like it, especially as it is published to coincide with the Olympics.

http://www.nature.com/nature/index.html

Donald A. Berry, a high-ranking statistician, calls into question the procedures used to charge athletes with cheating and cites the Floyd Landis case.

If you are near a university library, you may want to check out:

http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v454/n7205...

Unfortunately, _Nature_ is a subscription-based journal, so the articles aren't open to those w/o a subscription.

This blog post quotes a portion of the article.

http://scienceblogs.com/drugmonkey/2008/08/the_...

It's noteworthy because _Nature_ is one of the top 5 or 10 journals in the biomedical sciences and anything published in that journal carries a heavy weight (no pun intended :-)) in the scientific community.

in Note the NRA’s tactics — does the tech industry have someone looking out for us? on Scobleizer
As you mentioned, the tech industry needs abundant electric power. Tech workers need a clean environment. Coal is the worst fuel with regard to sulfur dioxide, particulates, and greenhouse gases.

Hydroelectric and nuclear energy are the way to have lots of electricity with low emissions. As an example, Vermont gets over 70% of its electricity from the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant. Vermont also has the nation's lowest sulfur dioxide and CO2 emissions of any state.

One thing that people in the tech industry can do to watch out for their own interests is to learn the arithmetic of electrical generation and then support license renewals and new build of nuclear energy facilities.
