For me, there are certain "white lies" I tell my son. Usually its things to make him STOP asking me so many questions. Heh. He plays along with the Santa thing and such, but when it comes to the real issues, I'm honest. When I left his dad, he asked why I didnt want to live with his dad anymore. I explained in terms that a 5 year old would understand. It was the truth, it just wasnt ALL the truth. At 5, he doesnt need to know that daddy abused mommy you know? I'll explain that to him when its time for him to really understand.
