in SolidWorks® Student Edition - SolidWorks Corporation (SolidWorks 2008-2009 Student Edition) on Novedge
I've recommended SolidWorks educational versions to several students that need to do senior design projects. To get a design done within 1-2 semesters they typically need something that has a short learning curve and can be explained easily to other team members. In every case I've seen SolidWorks Educational version has performed well and given them portfolio material and experience they can use when looking for work after graduating. definitely recommended!

I'm wondering details. not just i did this, this and this, pow. but how did you know how to set things up, how to promote, which things created the best revenue. What did he spend hours researching that he can share so we don't have to.

in SolidWorks 2008 Preview - Part 1: New UI & SWIFT Functionality on CADFanatic
great review brian. You're right about SWIFT possibly affecting modeling practices. That's why it's going to be important for companies to have their processes lined out and proper training to occur. I think that in turn produces more mentors for new users and a larger knowledge base.

Hi Jeff, I was wondering if you thought the dissect feature would help you have fewer library features. It seems it might. It’s either doing a quick search or searching through files for a library feature. What do you think?

in SolidWorks 2008 Officially Announced! on CADFanatic
Hey Brian, looking forward to your post. I will be interested on your take about rolling it out to your users and what you think that will entail. We use Copy Options to distribute standard settings to everyone. Doing that has allowed us to flow from version to version with little affect on users adapting to interface changes or new shortcuts. We also have a couple documents for users to references.

Some will want to customize and if we find something that many people need we’ll add it. We have 11 full-time users, and quite a few consultants and offshore facilites that even use the same set-up.

in SolidWorks Tip: Sketch Slot on Ricky Jordan's Blog
just one other way I can think of, especially if you are using slots a lot is creating a Library feature. if set up correctly, by leaving out horizontal and vertical relations, you'll be able to drop it onto a part face oriented however you need it.
