in Nashua Telegraph Blogs on The Pop DinerWow this was so great. Being a movie freak I connected some of these scenes before but only a small fraction - the Psycho being one of my all time faves. I knew there was a place in this world for other film majors.

in Nashua Telegraph Blogs on The Editor's BlogHi Eduardo,
As you can see by the above dialogue having a place on Monday's Telegraph front page will be a great place for people to read about our rich and growing immigrant community. I've always been proud of the fact that our newspaper keeps up with trends and issues in journalism and our community and I'm thrilled your column will help us all stay in touch with all our readers. I look forward to sharing a month of Mondays with you and to reading your columns. Best of luck and welcome.

in The upside of cancer on The Pop DinerAs a thre-time cancer survivor I have some pretty strong opinions about this. There are indeed some funny things about having cancer - like the time in the hospital I was given so much marinol - the pill form of marijuana - that the nice nurse who had to draw my blood every few hours morphed into a vampire. No kidding. She was saying "I need to take some more blood," and I was hearing, "I need to suck your blood." To top it all off she sounded just like Fran Drescher of Nanny fame, So I was being haunted by the undead from Brooklyn. Of course this was only funny in hindsight - but here's the thing. Do a favor to yourself and loved ones who might get diagnosed. Don't tell them if they just have the right attitude they'll do better. What that says to us when we aren't doing well, is that we didn't try hard enough when the reality is that cancer is really, rough. I'm not saying a good attitude isn't helpful, but trust me when your hair is falling out, your child cries every time you go to the hospital and your throwing up every ten minutes, there's not much to laugh about.

in “Solidarity only goes so far when you butcher ‘You Really Got Me’ “ on The Pop DinerI'm with you on this one. A joke's a joke, but to see really talented contestants, like Sligh, have to watch the bye-bye video when you know Sanjaya is just taking up precious oxygen is galling. We know he's not going to win, but we also know he has at best - a novelty career in the future - picture William Hung with better teeth. But here's the thing. He doesn't even have the innocent charm that Hung had. Really he's just hair with a lousy voice attached. As for Sligh's good-bye, he could have been more gracious but looking at Hairboy in the rearview would make sour grapes look pretty tasty to me

in I am starting with the (wo)man in the mirror on The Pop DinerJen's right. Adelle's class is to die for and if you haven't been to Gallery One or these studios you're missing a lot. This was my seceond mirror and now I'm a bona fide addict. What Miss Jen forgot to mention is that she, like so many of us who have taken this class, intended to give it away as a gift, but once made it's pretty hard to part with these babies. OK folks don't feel intimidated if you don't consider yourselves crafty. I get hives just driving past a Michael's and have never drawn anything recognizable in my life. I can't wait until Adelle offers her "Novel Year" workshop - you meet once a month and by the end of the year you have a novel. Hey I'm 49 already. I given up on the idea that it will all just come to me.

in NashuaTelegraph.com: Blogs on The Pop DinerDeidre I too am a Chris fan. And although I love Taylor because he looks like my brother and he's goofy, I think Chris should win. Catherine makes me sick - like a prom queen who would rip the eyes out of any girl who tried to go after her crown. She is so "American Dreamz." In the meantime I know Elliot is doing better but I just can't get past the teeth. I know that makes me shallow, but let's face it, if any female contestant looked like him, she never would have made it past the funny commericials.

in Nashua Telegraph Blogs on The Pop DinerOK let's hear it from a woman. I think the show is better this season than it has been for a long time and Marty K - it's because of the personal stuff - sorry. I too dropped out but I'm so glad I dropped in again. I'm hoping, like those eternal optimist that every time they see Gone With the Wind, Rhett will somehow turn around and not leave Scarlett - that the show will be picked up again. We have a nice new administraton all in place - Jimmy Smits and Alan Alda - what's not to love?
