Twitter took on a whole new life for me once I got my iPhone. Plus between Twitter's Mobile versions, its variants (Hahlo, Pockettweets, Thincloud, etc) and Twitterific on the desktop (for OSX) there are alot of options to sending 'Tweets. I rarely, if ever go to twitter.com.

Re: This Is Your Brain…

I'm glad I came to the site rather than just viewing on my iPhone (it didn't move at all on the iPhone). I'm thankful to have shows as it more than filled the void I felt when "The Screen Savers" went off the air. Not only has Podcasting filled that role, but its great to have Leo & Co. on TWiT, Macbreak Weekly, Windows Weekly, et al.

I never realized that "The Woz" episode was so hated. I was quite entertained by him actually.

Re: Plugin Mania : LOL: The Life of Leo

Nicely done Leo!
Out of curiousity, what other Wordpress plugins do you use? ITT was one of my first and favorite podcasts. Hearing that opening intro music always brought a smile to my face as I knew what I was in store for... the ramblings and teachings of comrades in tech. Fellow geeks (and I mean that affectionately of course) who shared different yet similar experiences as the rest of us... in the trenches. The show name couldn't have been more fitting.

Kevin & George - Thank you guys. I'm sure (and hope) this won't be the last we hear from you. ...

You forgot the point about Torre taking the team to win the World Series in 3 out of the first 4 years after inheriting the team from Buck Showalter and "Stick" Michael.

That being said, Torre still has to get some credit for driving the bus. There are few ... VERY FEW ... managers out there... if any... who could year in and year out take the rectal abuse that the Boss dishes out while keeping an even keel, keeping the Yankee ship running smooth and keeping the player focussed on the media circus that is the New York Yankees. That's not an easy task. Making the playoffs for 12 straight years isn't something to just laugh at just because of the Yankee payroll.

7 Years without a World Series win isn't a knock either (remember its only been 4 years since a WS appearance) especially in a playoff system on steroids (no offense Mr. Bonds). There are 3 rounds of playoffs now. That's a LONG Post Season that follows a very long regular season (which follows spring training). Before Joe? The Yankees finally sniffed the playoffs in '95 (Mattingly's final season) and hadn't been anywhere near it since 1981 when Richard Todd was the QB for the Jets. Sad huh?

Re: http://gary.tumblr.com/post/78887084

maybe I'm looking at this from a different angle BUT...

Twitter is an appetizer. Facebook is a full dinner.
Twitter is great for those quick "shout outs", but lets face it, how much contact can you really have when you have Twitter numbers like @scobleizer, @jasoncalacanis & @leolaporte? It becomes a blur after a while with no way to process the information.

I don't think we're comparing like technologies here. Similar? Yes. But its not a "one or the other" situation.

Would you replace your TV with your iPhone? No you wouldn't. Yes you can watch video content on your iPhone, but its a different experience? Make sense?

Twitter is great to have an app sitting at the corner of your desktop to keep a finger on the pulse of what's happening now. Then you pick it up and take it with you on your mobile device. Facebook is more of your landing pad. A "more professional" homebase possibly?

Re: http://gary.tumblr.com/post/78889656

I grew up on Long Island and worked in Manhattan for quite some time using Verizon. It the same as anywhere else. There are good spots and there are dead spots. Just because it's a big metropolis you'd think that the cell providers could provide some decent coverage to a highly dense location. Truth is they can't. Real Estate is costly and there's lots of competition for signal.

Being out in the west coast I live in a valley... its even worse here. Limited cell towers can't cover the landscape when there are hills in the way.

Truth be told each cell provider has their strengths and weeknesses in different areas. "Least dropped calls" is relatvie. It just means they "suck less" than some of the other providers. But "More bars?". I agree, that's a joke.

But kudos to Apple. I won't give up my iPhone regardless.

--------
SoCalDaveL on Twitter

Re: Wine and Web Party, thanks to Twitter and DeLoach winery

Talk about the rock stars of web 2.0

What a great "inside baseball" discussion.
