This has always been the way of things... Fred, are you part of the problem, or part of the solution? This is something we can all ask ourselves.

Re: iLike and Facebook joined at the hip

How do they make money-- either through facebook or not?

Re: Glam roars, sparking battle of the hot women sites

Yes, I have agree with Advertiser above. I can't help but thing web sites covering Silicon Valley are getting spun by GLAM which is very savvy about how to get press. Their huge traffic numbers are approved by placing advertorial on thousands of blog sites which are of questionable quality. Furthermore, the advertorial, while clearly GLAM branded is not necessarily engaging or even being read by the user of that page.

By this metric, you could claim that Blogads.com was the world's biggest publisher of content for men. It's not true, because network traffic shouldn't be compared to actual site traffic.

Re: ENotes, a site that — surprise — charges for online classroom material

Interesting, I guess it shows there is a niche market for paid content after all. Business content, definitely. Educational I wasn't aware of, but it makes sense.

Re: Questia founder moves on to stealth semantic startup PeoplePad

Sounds interesting but based on Questia it's hard to have a lot of faith in the eventual execution.

Re: ThisNext Raises Round of Venture Debt

Could you explain what "venture debt" is?

Re: 2007/07/12/congoo-social-network/

What algorithms are incorporated into their service?

Re: How Age Matters In Media, Web Services, And Social Networking

I don't think that those of us in the older generation (I'm 30) don't "get" Facebook, it's just that we don't need Facebook. I'm married with a child and my life is pretty well proscribed. My friends are available via Cel phone or email, and there aren't so many of them that I need or want to be using Facebook. When I was in college, or even for the few years after college when I was very socially active, it would have been great. But now, it really isn't all that useful for me beyond the novelty.
