Could you explain what "venture debt" is?

Gordon Gould Venture debt is essentially debt capital that is layered on top of venture capital. It is a low-cost way to access additional funding, though you have to be ready to have debt on your books. Typically the venture debt provider makes money off of both the interest payments and warrants tied to the amount of debt raised. Make sense?
