Those in the know agree that Ford's plans for the next few years are the most solid out of the bunch, and they might not even need any money from the government (though they are asking for $9 billion just in case... that must be nice).

Anyway, I know facts shouldn't get in the way of a good joke.

Re: I Get By with a Little Help From My Friends

Thanks, Frank! Just an excuse to get together with some bloggers and eat a little, and drink a little. We hardly even talk about blogs (but some blog talk does sneak in).

The Wordpress group tends to be a little more on point because Owen is just better at damn near everything than I am. :)

Re: Live from Viddler HQ, again

Hey, did anyone on the Viddler team go to Lehigh? TUAW meets all the requirements that Macworld outlines, and we also get much more traffic than say... Macsimum News does and yet Macsimum News got a press pass.

It most likely has to do with the fact that we have 'blog' in our name. Ahh, well what can ya do? Well, other than write a snark filled post about it (I'm a blogger after all!).

Re: Scott McNulty wants a press pass to MacWorld

I might point out that no where in my post did I say Dave shouldn't get a pass. In fact I said, 'hurrah for bloggers, right,' thereby equating Dave and myself since we're both bloggers. It seems to me that if Macworld wanted to issue pass badges to bloggers they would want to give one to a site that is focused entirely on Mac news, gets tons of traffic, and meets all of their requirements for 'Online Media.'

So we're not getting a pass even though we get more than 1.5 million pageviews a month (of course, traffic has little to do with it, because why would IDG want a website there that gets lots of hits?) and have a paid staff that posts original content (along with pointers to other folks). It is IDG's party and they can invite whom they want and so of course folks like Winer and Sellers will get passes. I'm just saying that I think I should too, but when you boil it all down they can do what they want. I'll be at Macworld either way 'just blogging' it and it will be loads of fun. I might even get to go into the press room after all the big media types leave after the keynote.

And the only snarky thing about my post was the word 'hell' in the title, at least to me.

Re: Scott McNulty wants a press pass to MacWorld

Yes, I'm not Pogue, Winer, the Pope, or anyone other than me which means I don't get special treatment, which is cool. However, I still don't think I should meekly accept the fact that TUAW, a site that meets all the requirements, didn't get a pass. I contacted IDG before I posted and they didn't get back to me so I posted something since that's what us snarky bloggers do. :)

Anyway, it doesn't really matter does it? I'll be going to Macworld, and I may get a press pass yet (since I am doing more to get one than just posting a silly old post about it).

Oh, and TUAW isn't 'my blog,' but rather a blog that employs me. If you want to check out my blog click on my name here. :) I didn't request a press pass for Blankbaby... but maybe I should.

Re: Blog networks changing history?

Since I am the lead blogger on TUAW, I thought I would chime in. No one WIN has EVER told me to link network blogs before outside blogs. We post like crazy about Apple stuff and every once and awhile we link to Engadget or Hack A Day, but it isn't like we are a link farm for other WIN blogs.

With that said, I am in talks with the blogger who posted the bit about the iTablet to see what's what.

Re: On plane today: testing offline blog editors

MarsEdit for the Mac, without a doubt:

http://ranchero.com/marsedit/

Almost every post at Blankbaby was written using it (though I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing).

Re: The geek blog I hate to love

Perhaps it is time to re-subscribe to Blankbaby? ;)

Re: Anil has a post every blogger should read

I read Anil's post the other day and meant to talk about it. Blogging has always been about making connections to me, whether it be with friends or with my mom (who reads my blog everyday). Even though I know that everyone I work with, hang out with, or am related to reads my blog I just write what I feel. I let it flow, because when it comes right down to it I am writing for an audience of one: me.

Re: Anonymous Apple blogger starts up

Did you just call Scoble a pig? This is Apple's standard why of handling issues like this. They did it for my MacBook (though it only took one day to fix that). I also have a MacBook Pro that has never had an issue, as well as 2 iMacs, a Cube, a Titanium PowerBook and an Aluminum Powerbook all that were problem free.

Whenever an expensive piece of equipment malfunctions you always feel like the company that is responsible is doing a bad job.. that's just human nature.
