You think my thoughts are stupid, yet you took the time to write a comment, so the same applies to my comments. People like to voice our beliefs.

As far as the good cause they go to...yes it is a very good cause. And I state that over and over again in my article. But the reason I think that the bracelets need to go away, is because they have gotten AWAY from their good cause and they are now some lame status symbol, which I also state in the article. I even go on to say that it started out great, but the craziness ruined it. I never once say anything of the sort about how the money going to cancer research is bad in any way. I just think this extreme adoration of Armstrong is lame, mainly becuase it ruined the cause meaning of the bracelets.

Did you just read the title and decided to comment?

Re: Livestrong, die now!

Now that is the kind of forward-thinking discussions I like to see on my site!

You know, even though there isn't much substance, this kind is the kind of post that one can really dig into and find some truths. For instance, I think we can all agree that one of the following is true:

This person is either someone that has those yellow bands all the way up his arm and is the exactly the type person that has turned this "livestrong" idea into a complete steaming pile of crap....or that was Lance Armstrong himself.

I choose to believe that latter. Thanks for the post Lance!

Re: Livestrong, die now!

...and people like you make me laugh my ass off! For the moment I will not discuss the insane lack of writing skills that you display by starting your post off with "omg". What I will discussis that even though you state that nobody cares what I think, you have in fact taken the time to comment on my ideas. So I guess YOU care what I think, at least enought to get angry about it.

Interesting huh? I bet you would never had guesses you cared about what I think so much.

Also, I believe you are missing my point. The bracelets themselves are ok, the cause is good. The people, namely the people that buy into this and are reallying into defending it (which you are clearly a charter member of this group) and Lance Armstrong himself. I am not against the cause at all...I say donate the dollar and don't wear the bracelet. You are a fool to believe that the bracelet is just about cancer. You are wearing a marketing tool for Armstrong around your wrist! He is a liar if he said that wasn't part of it. If marketing himself wasn't a part of it the bracelets wouldn't be yellow, the tour de france's color for the winning rider...or LiveSTRONG wouldn't be the name, people that just want to help tell people to donate to a existing group not theirs with their name stamped everywhere. Hell if he didn't care about the marketing, there wouldn't be a damn bracelet to begin with!

(OMG! I'm like totally right aren't I?!)

Re: Livestrong, die now!

Thats a touching STORY. However, if what you SAY is the CASE, then you are clearly not one of the PEOPLE I'm referring to.

Make no MISTAKE I agree with the cause...I just DON'T agree with the Lance Armstrong marketing and WORSHIP that goes along with it.

Also, whats with the CONSTANT capitalization?

Re: Livestrong, die now!

The time it took me to write that article is most likely the same amount of time it took you to write yours (plus the time you should have spent fixing all the grammatical errors in your post). So what does that say about you and your fashion? Oh yeah, thats right...nothing because wether or not you or I wear "iziode" (I presume you meant "izod") shirts has nothing to do with anything.

Also, you seem to be missing my point. But thats ok, there are lots of other people out there just as stupid as you. You might have read some of their entries above.

If you think that Lance Armstrong got nothing but good karma from this Livestrong thing, you are even more stupid than your writing would suggest. He got an amazing amount of press from this, and in America, press means endorsements, and that means money. How much press did the other major Tour De France winners get in the past? I can't remember...you let me know if you can think of any of their names...or even if you knew who Armstrong was a few years ago. The fact of the matter is if he really wanted to do this and get nothing back and just be a good guy, he wouldn't have done the marketing spree with the little gold billboards that people can wear on their wrists.

Oh you were right about one thing: Who cares if someone doesn't like Lance Armstrong? Hell...Who cares if you DO like Lance Armstrong? Armstrong's charity is not the only game in town...if it all goes to cancer sufferers, then why would it matter that I'm stating my distain for Lance Armstrong?

You think about that one for a while.

Damn I hate repeating myself...read before you post people.

Re: Moving…

I'll shoot you an e-mail in a bit. I think that unless you are really doing some very hard photo or some larger videos, then this will be fine.

My iBook is a 933 MHz and it works fine with Photoshop, all the iLife apps and even Final Cut Express (a larger video app), run just fine. I just don't like the Armstrong Spin on it. I don't care if you give a million dollars to cancer research, its the Armstrong marketing that I don't like. Did I say that clear enough for you, because you clearly weren't smart enough to ween that information from the above article.

If you were raising money for a sick person and all of the money went to that person, then fine. Thats great, it happens all the time and its a wonderful thing. However, you can't seriously believe that Armstrong doesn't get something back in return from everyone wearing those dopey bracelets? You are a fool if you think so. I'm not accusing the guy of dipping in to the fund, but the yellow and the fact that it says "liveSTRONG" on sure sound like a nice marketing campaign to me.

Also, you sound like kind of a bitch.

Re: Livestrong, die now!

So what? Just because he had cancer I should like him? Thats a horribly stupid statement. What if a guy kills 30 infants but then he gets cancer? "Well I don't like the infant killing, but he has been through more than I ever will...what a great guy!" Is that what you are saying? You would support that guy because he went through cancer? Why do you support a guy that kills infants? Huh?! Answer me that!

Man, you are really messed up.

Re: Livestrong, die now!

I didn't say that he was getting money from the fund. In fact I said the exact opposite in a comment:

"I'm not accusing the guy of dipping in to the fund..."

What I'm saying is he is getting one great marketing campaign out of it. All I'm saying is that if he was really a great guy, he would give the money annoymously and not have people wear little advertisements on their arms.

Armstrong is just so full of himself and fools like you that just blindly follow the guy for a lame reason like "he had cancer." Not only that, but judging by both of your comments neither of you can read or at least chose not to. Because if you did I wouldn't have to waste time reiterating things I just wrote not more than a day ago.

Ok, just so I don't have to say it again: I DIDN'T SAY HE DIPPED OUT OF THE FUND, I'M SAYING THAT IF YOU THINK THAT HE ISN'T GETTING ANYTHING BACK FROM THIS (Like free marketing or a PR campaign or even a chance to get on TV more, thus more endorsements.) AT ALL YOU ARE AN IDIOT AND A DOUCHEY, BLIND LANCE FOLLOWER.

There, I even put it in caps for you.

Re: Livestrong, die now!

All you did there was list a bunch of crap I don't care about. Lets run through this a bit shall we?

YOU: "...but after he came back from cancer he learnt a lot and changed his ways, (doesnt that in itself make him a great person?)"

ME: "No."

YOU: "Secondly, how can you persecute a man for having a failed marriage?"

ME: "I want you to point out in my article where I even made mention of his wife. Go ahead, I'll wait...find it yet? No? Because I didn't mention her or anything like that in tha article. Can I make it a rule that you have to read before you can post?"

YOU: "...it is probably one of the most successful fundraisers in history, raising millions of dollars to help support people who really need it."

ME: "If you would have read the article you would have noticed this line: 'Well the organization initially was fine, but people have made this retarded.' I have no problem what so ever, as I have stated time and time again, with raising money for cancer. The main problem is retards like you that think this is more than it is. It should be just a fund raiser, but you changed it into a fahsion statement / religious experience with Armstrong as your spandex wearing messiah!"

YOU: "...a single parent family with a mother who scrificed everything just so her son could be a respectable man"

ME: "Who gives a rats ass about that? I'm pretty sure that doesn't make him special in this day."

Also, I want to make mention of the guy that called me an asshole, but did not have the guts to leave his name (or even make one up). That person will now be known as "Sheryl Crow".

Re: Livestrong, die now!

I didn't reply to him because he just said things that everyone else has, he added nothing new to the conversation. Also, he doesn't seem to know what a "douche" is, so he is most likely under the age of 12. In fact his big point, is "if you don't like one don't buy one." Wow! Great idea dipsh*t! ...thats why I didn't reply, he added nothing. Even less than you.

I do find it interesting that you seem to care so much what I think and what I say to everyone. Nice to know I have a fan.

By the way, if Robin "cares what you say" at all its because there is no excuse for your spelling. You are either an adult with no education or a kid that will grow up to be one.

Just so you know, you seem to have listed off some other good examples of things that are harmless until mindless twits around the world made them into a steaming pile of crap...like Beanie Babies, or...yes...LiveStrong bands.

There, I replied, can you sleep tonight now?

Re: Livestrong, die now!

YOU: "but i wasn't only remarking on what you have said but what other people have said"

Sounds like someone finally read my article and is trying to not look like even more of an ass. Forgive me for not believing you about how you were commenting on "things others have said". First off why the hell would you comment about things others have said here? Thats stupid, inane and pointless. Secondly, here is a quote from your previous post: "...how can you persecute a man for having a failed marriage?" So when you said "you" you weren't referring to me, but to other people that have said that? Ok, so the whole post was directed at me execpt for that sentence? Sure. That makes sense. Wow how could I be so conceited that I could think that when you post a message on my site, about my article, that your message would be directed at me?! Lets face it, you were wrong! Its ok. I would think you would be used to it by now.

Also, how could I have made any assumptions about what you said? In my reply to your initial comment, all I did was DIRECTLY quote you and then reply. The act of directly quoting you pretty much eliminates the possibility of me generating any assumptions even if I wanted to. Now if you are referring to any of my other replies to OTHER people that have commented, then maybe you are the one that thinks "the world revolves around you."

Ok, lets move on to the next part of you misguided diatribe. "secondly i never said anything about it having to do with a religious experience, infact i am an atheist so no religion for me." Who gives a shit what religion you are? Noone. I was using a metaphor you 'tard! I would hope that noone is actually worshiping Armstrong, although I wouldn't be surprised by it judging by some of the reactions this article gets.

Oh an lastly: "Just because someone doesnt know how to spell a word or two doesnt make them any less of a person than you or their opinion less worth while." Yes it does.

Re: Livestrong, die now!

Sheryl, those last two comments that you made, might just be the most inane and incoherent post out of the whole bunch. Judging by some of the previous posts that is quite an infamous accomplishment.

I think the best way to sum your absolutely worthless post is with your own words:

"...how dose some one not knowing how to spell make them less of a person that’s just ridicules."

Wow. That is just a mess. I'll just let everyone else read over that one and let the sheer horribleness wash over them.

As far as your last question...do I seem like a give a rats ass what you or any other of these misguided "Armstronginacs" thinks? Yeah, thats right, I just coined the term "Armstronginacs".

Re: Livestrong, die now!

"Think of a better word to use than Retard."

Wow, you're right. I realize that you are probably only 13 and the two guys that posted right after you are your little friends, but guys really...What the hell are you going to do about it?

It so funny how angry you, and others, get. What did I make fun of your daddy? Did I call your mom a slut? No. All I did was voice my opinion on a guy that you see on TV.

You guys are just little pussies.

Also, why is everyone so lazy they can't just type out "You are"? That’s fine. But everyone knows that you were not referring to others, you just didn't read my article. We also all know you will never come clean to that. Its fine, you know you were really wrong.

Nope. It was a metaphor, and if you still aren't happy with that, then we can call it a exaggeration for comedic / dramatic purposes. Like I said, I really don't think anyone actually worships Armstrong. Although, I think the other "mike" might be his son, or at the very least jacks off to a picture of Lance right after he jacks off to a picture of me.

"...but Lance wasn't brought up in a time when single parent family's were not accepted," Nope. Still doesn't make him special.

"...convince me that someone who doesn't have a good education can't have a worthwhile opinion." Ok, lets take the other Mike for an example. This moron clearly is either too young to have finished any meaningful education or is just stupid. Look at what he is writing. That guy is beneath everyone. Oh yeah, I also don't care what you think either. I would have cared and I even started too, but then I noticed that you misspelled "describe" (you put "descibe"). So now I don't care what you say either.

"Oh and another thing, by attacking people's grammar, spelling and personal views you degrade your own article and also your argument"

You just don't get it do you?
----------
To "Sheryl":

"lol "ur" means you're so its not just lazy people who cant be bothered doing a " " and this isn't exactly important 2 people so they and if they are lazy with their grammer it only shows how much they don't care about you."

My god you are a complete idiot. You know those paint chips in your old house might taste good, but they are really doing some serious damage to you.

----

To Other Mike:

Actually, I'm feeling pretty good and I'm having a blast laughing at all of these inane comments.

"Do you know anyone who has been ravaged by cancer, do they wear a livestrong band? "

Yes and no.

"I just hope you dont become diagnosed. As i am quite sure you would regret the comments you have made to people on this site." Nope. Actually I have plans in place that if I do happen to die of cancer. I plan to have a really tall stone set with my article and all of my comments engraved into it. I also don't recall saying anything bad about cancer sufferers in general...just Lance.

"I bet it made you angry with the comments i made to you! " Nope. Why would I care what some random guy on the web thinks of me? I realize that all of you care what I think, but that doesn't mean to oppisite is true.

"People would listen to what you have to say more if you didnt mouth-off as if they have thrown a rock at your head."

I think I said it in a clear calm tone from the very beginning. Now, when people swerve off topic, the conversation gets dragged with them. That being said, having never had a rock thrown at my head, so I'm not sure how I would react, but I don't think it is close to what I have shown here.
People that want to hear what I have to say will actually read the article and make their decision. Not everyone out there decides to get so angry to post vulgarities and flip out like Armstrong is your daddy.

Re: Livestrong, die now!

You know, I have no problems with replying to all of your on-topic comments. Also, if I was jealous of Armstrong because of his fame or popularity, why aren't I writing articles about every other famous and popular person? Clearly you are the one that is making senseless statements.

Really now, I don't have the time or desire to keep answering the same pointless questions over and over again. If no one can bring anything new to the discussion then it has run its course. You are all saying the same lame things over and over again! Its all very pointless. I can't believe that all of you, seemingly anonymous internet users, all have the same stupid, baseless arguments. It’s a shame. This was really getting to be a great discussion.

Sadly, I must do what I never wanted to do and shut down the comments for an article. I think we all know why. I have refuted all of your points on why, for some reason, you think I should like some yellow spandex wearing loser, and collectively you can't seem to bring anything new to the table. Sad. For a moment there I thought someone might really think of a better argument than "You suck", "Its ok to write like a retard (there, that last one's for you "Other Mike")" and "Look at what all the other people have said!"...but clearly you can't, and those that can have failed to step forward.

And so ends the comments section on one truly great article, if not because of how amazingly clear and thought-provoking it is, than because of the sheer interest and emotions it brought out in all of you morons that for some reason act like you know him or is the father of your maladjusted child.

Here is the final word on this subject: Lance Armstong is, and will always be, a douche bag.

The end....for now.

Re: Tiger: Shipped

First off the Minis should be shipping with Tiger as soon at Friday (When Tiger is officially released.).

That all looks good to me. I don't have any problems with my iBook working with my Red Hat box at home, the tons of linux servers at work, or my Windows boxes. So I don't see too much of an issue.

2. I tried openoffice for mac for about 30 mins. It worked fine, but my problem with it was that its not a port that is native OS X, you have to run it through X11. I have no clue what 'rebuilding the desktop' is.

4. If you have a windows keyboard, it should work fine. I think the windows key = Apple key and alt = Option key. However, with Safari (2.0 on Tiger), the dot is small as well, but that probably because none of the checkboxes or radio buttons are sized differently. First off you have to rememeber to unmount your iPod when you are done, which I always forget to do. The main reason is though is that when you just want to have all of your music on your iPod, doing it manually sucks, because you always forget something that you added or removed a long time ago.

Now if I had a Nano, I think "manually" would be the way to go, but if you have the bigger iPod I really think it sucks. Its a MovableType plugin that I've been meaning to replace with my own scripts that uses the new keywords as well as the categories and anything else I can think of to make it work better. (Right now I think the plugin just uses the category to pull the links)

For now think of them as "Related" because they all came from this site.

Re: Radio is Dead! I'm already getting into it! I have however already found one little problem with it. The little tracking program that runs and keeps track of your songs, counts a song as "played" the second it starts going, instead of when the song finishes.

For instance, I started up iTunes and it randomly played that Kid Rock song Picture that I've had on my computer for forever when I made a CD for my girlfriend or something. The song lasted for 2 seconds before I changed it, but yet aI am marked as listening to it. Oh well...a minor gripe for what seems to be a pretty cool music site.

Re: Radio is Dead! ICQ has just always been there for me. I've had it for so long my number is only 7 digits and to this day I can still recite in on request. ICQ was the first, and until AOL bought it, the best. Its a shame to see what has become of it.

I still sign into ICQ because its setup on Adium and honestly I really don't ever make a point to talk to anyone (Dan and one other friend) on ICQ, I usually just click on the "Dan" thats in the top of the list, which I guess now will be his AIM account. Though I'm sure the wave of SPAM will soon crash upon me and I too will have to give up ICQ.

One question though: Did you check out that girl's "cam shot"? Your plan just might work. Its never gonna happen sadly, but I like the idea. I really like the mention of the domainkeys. Thats something I need to look into more for the mail server at work.

I'm starting to think the sad truth is that E-Mail is simply dead (or at least dieing). I'm starting to get a lot of spam on my hellyeahbitch account and I was going to activated Dreamshost's lock-down SPAM filter. However they give you a warning that basically says that you WILL lose emails you want at some point in time and they urge you to setup a full white list. Of course I could go through that work and set it up, but does doing all of that take away the beautiful simplicity that made email so great?

Re: Mike Uses Lala and Likes It So Far

Thanks for the heads up Javier! (For example, try plugging in this page's URL, it will find my site's feed with no problem) It scrapes and searches the HTML for a "link" tag that has a type field specified for either XML or ATOM RSS and then pulls that link. If you were referring to your site, in particular, the mobile viewer can't find your feed because there isn't a link tag pointing to your feed in the header of your document. (Same reason why firefox doesn't see your feed either I would assume) Throw a link tag up there with the standard settings and it will work fine for you.

Re: View Mobile Versions of This or Any Other Blog

P.S.
I should state that the root domain of the site is preferable because I use that to change relative links for the feed or pictures into absolute links that will work in the viewer. But I'm not all with you on the safety...lots of other people bike in "regular" clothes and don't get run over.

Basically what it comes down to is still pretending. I can understand why Lance Armstrong needs to have FedEx and other companies all over him to make money, but I don't think those two dorks pictured above are seeing many checks from the names all over their shirt. Then grind the puppy up into sausage. Then cook the puppy sausage and go over and offer it as a peace offering to the pet shop guy. Once he eats the sausage, then you can laugh at him and tell him that he just ate sausage made out of a diseased puppy from his own store! Tell him the disease was "Puppy AIDS" if you really want to get him. Then, during the commotion, have a friend shove as many puppies as possible down their pants. They'll never expect someone to try to steal from them that way again. Its genius.

Bonus: you can turn the puppy pelt into a nice pair of gloves or boots.

Re: Why Do The Contruction Site Sign Holders Keep Waving You Through the Site As You Drive By?

Full Disclosure Time:
I had to edit your comment ever so slightly Ben.
