I wrote about it becuase I think it needs to stop. You think my thoughts are stupid, yet you took the time to write a comment, so the same applies to my comments. People like to voice our beliefs.

As far as the good cause they go to...yes it is a very good cause. And I state that over and over again in my article. But the reason I think that the bracelets need to go away, is because they have gotten AWAY from their good cause and they are now some lame status symbol, which I also state in the article. I even go on to say that it started out great, but the craziness ruined it. I never once say anything of the sort about how the money going to cancer research is bad in any way. I just think this extreme adoration of Armstrong is lame, mainly becuase it ruined the cause meaning of the bracelets.

Did you just read the title and decided to comment?

Now that is the kind of forward-thinking discussions I like to see on my site!

You know, even though there isn't much substance, this kind is the kind of post that one can really dig into and find some truths. For instance, I think we can all agree that one of the following is true:

This person is either someone that has those yellow bands all the way up his arm and is the exactly the type person that has turned this "livestrong" idea into a complete steaming pile of crap....or that was Lance Armstrong himself.

I choose to believe that latter. Thanks for the post Lance!

What I will discussis that even though you state that nobody cares what I think, you have in fact taken the time to comment on my ideas. So I guess YOU care what I think, at least enought to get angry about it.

Interesting huh? I bet you would never had guesses you cared about what I think so much.

Also, I believe you are missing my point. The bracelets themselves are ok, the cause is good. The people, namely the people that buy into this and are reallying into defending it (which you are clearly a charter member of this group) and Lance Armstrong himself. I am not against the cause at all...I say donate the dollar and don't wear the bracelet. You are a fool to believe that the bracelet is just about cancer. You are wearing a marketing tool for Armstrong around your wrist! He is a liar if he said that wasn't part of it. If marketing himself wasn't a part of it the bracelets wouldn't be yellow, the tour de france's color for the winning rider...or LiveSTRONG wouldn't be the name, people that just want to help tell people to donate to a existing group not theirs with their name stamped everywhere. Hell if he didn't care about the marketing, there wouldn't be a damn bracelet to begin with!

Make no MISTAKE I agree with the cause...I just DON'T agree with the Lance Armstrong marketing and WORSHIP that goes along with it.

The time it took me to write that article is most likely the same amount of time it took you to write yours (plus the time you should have spent fixing all the grammatical errors in your post). So what does that say about you and your fashion? Oh yeah, thats right...nothing because wether or not you or I wear "iziode" (I presume you meant "izod") shirts has nothing to do with anything.

Also, you seem to be missing my point. But thats ok, there are lots of other people out there just as stupid as you. You might have read some of their entries above.

If you think that Lance Armstrong got nothing but good karma from this Livestrong thing, you are even more stupid than your writing would suggest. He got an amazing amount of press from this, and in America, press means endorsements, and that means money. How much press did the other major Tour De France winners get in the past? I can't remember...you let me know if you can think of any of their names...or even if you knew who Armstrong was a few years ago. The fact of the matter is if he really wanted to do this and get nothing back and just be a good guy, he wouldn't have done the marketing spree with the little gold billboards that people can wear on their wrists.

Oh you were right about one thing: Who cares if someone doesn't like Lance Armstrong? Hell...Who cares if you DO like Lance Armstrong? Armstrong's charity is not the only game in town...if it all goes to cancer sufferers, then why would it matter that I'm stating my distain for Lance Armstrong?

There have been rumblings around the community that this would be too slow. I think that unless you are really doing some very hard photo or some larger videos, then this will be fine.

My iBook is a 933 MHz and it works fine with Photoshop, all the iLife apps and even Final Cut Express (a larger video app), run just fine. Its not lightning, but it runs it fine.

My only hope is that its a bit faster and that there is a DVD burner. I would really want one of those...maybe...an iMac would be sweet though.

iWork is the new version of Apple Works, to put it simply. Its a Apple version of a word processor. Although some say it a shot accross the bow of Microsoft Office, I think it is more like Pagemaker. It focuses more on style than Office does, so I really don't see it as a threat.

And thanks for the heads up Mark. I priced one of these mac minis out and it comes to a little under $800 for what I'm looking for. Thats still a chunck of change, but much more attainable than the 1400+ iMac. I want one, but I'll wait untill some people get their hands on them and take them apart.

I just wish I could add RAM on my own!

Yeah, I have no problem with that. I work all day in PHP and CSS and would love to have more of it around but see how when you click the "comments" link on one of your posts? It uses the same template that the front page does, I want to use a different template for the individual entry.

I gave a little thought to going in and just re-coding a version of wordpress that will do that for me, but I decided that would take time that I really don't have right now.

Don't I say in the article that I wrote that I have no issue with the cause? I would know that because I wrote it, you would have known that if you would have read it before posting.

On the other hand I do love that you tried to sound smarter by using big words for a third grader, like "proctologist" Even though you are the one, suggesting by the tone of your comment, that has something stuck up your ass, I must disagree with you on your suggestion. If I did in fact have something that "crawled up my ass" one wouldn't go to a proctologist, you would go to the plain ole ER. A proctologist is a doctor you would go to if you had a disorder or medical malady pretaining to the colon, anus, etc. He would not be someone you would go to if you, say, I don't know, had a Lance Armstrong bobblehead shoved up there. I'm sure you'll be thanking me for that information in the future.

I support cancer research, just like the big picture at the top says. I just don't like the Armstrong Spin on it. I don't care if you give a million dollars to cancer research, its the Armstrong marketing that I don't like. If you were raising money for a sick person and all of the money went to that person, then fine. Thats great, it happens all the time and its a wonderful thing. Thats what I'm worried about, if Sony will add the features or if they will wait for the next version. If they could just add those features (Web, Email, Instant Messaging...) and keep working on the sync software to the Mac I would get on board. (And if someone could figure out how to get some games for free, I would be really excited.

...also, where they ever really in short demand? I heard reports of people waltzing in any time on the day they came out and having no problem picking one up.

For a moment there I thought someone might really think of a better argument than "You suck", "Its ok to write like a retard (there, that last one's for you "Other Mike")" and "Look at what all the other people have said!"...but clearly you can't, and those that can have failed to step forward.

First off the Minis should be shipping with Tiger as soon at Friday (When Tiger is officially released.).

That all looks good to me. As far as the $100 bucks for a .17 speed jump, I'm with you, as I don't see the value. If someone is really looking to get more processor speed, step up to the G5, but if you ask me, the $100 extra bucks would be more well spent adding a Superdrive to the mini instead.

Also, you can now increase the text size freely without any style hiccups. The search box bug is fixed.

Let me see if I can help you with your questions...
1. I don't have any problems with my iBook working with my Red Hat box at home, the tons of linux servers at work, or my Windows boxes. So I don't see too much of an issue.

2. I tried openoffice for mac for about 30 mins. It worked fine, but my problem with it was that its not a port that is native OS X, you have to run it through X11. Also, I thought I read somewhere that they stopped doing further work on the mac version...can anyone confirm or deny?

3. I have no clue what 'rebuilding the desktop' is.

4. If you have a windows keyboard, it should work fine. I think the windows key = Apple key and alt = Option key. Also, don't tell Steve Jobs about that mapping the windows key to the online store idea or there could be a Tiger Update in the works.

5. I prefer the Apple store in the West County mall. Not sure, why, I just do.

The only cleaver thought I've heard was flipping the screen 180 and then mounting the laptop to the underneath of a shelf. Then you could just get a wireless mouse and keyboard. But you would have to invert the mouse's axis so you can use it like a regular mouse...That could be pretty cool if you could figure that out and get a cheap mac that runs Tiger.

On my iBook, firefox, the black dot on the radio buttons stays small, just like on your linux box. However, with Safari (2.0 on Tiger), the dot is small as well, but that probably because none of the checkboxes or radio buttons are sized differently. Looks like those that view the web via Safari only, will never get the joy of a huge ass radio button or checkbox.

I suppose that came out a bit more harsh than I wanted. Most things are either cosmetic or sadly un-avoidable. For instance, the e-mail reply to approve comments...annoying but needed these days, other than that it just seems cluttered with the "top posters" and such.

Don't get me wrong, all in all, I like the software (at least the bit that outside users see). At least once every other week I wish I had the time and engergy to write my own blogging software, so I respect you guys for that.

I know a lot of people that have their iPod set to "Manually manage songs" but I think its a pain in the butt in the long run for me. First off you have to rememeber to unmount your iPod when you are done, which I always forget to do. The main reason is though is that when you just want to have all of your music on your iPod, doing it manually sucks, because you always forget something that you added or removed a long time ago.

Now if I had a Nano, I think "manually" would be the way to go, but if you have the bigger iPod I really think it sucks. (Unless you have a raging desire to store other things than music on there)

Yeah, I know...the "related links" are kind of a joke at times. Its a MovableType plugin that I've been meaning to replace with my own scripts that uses the new keywords as well as the categories and anything else I can think of to make it work better. (Right now I think the plugin just uses the category to pull the links)

For now think of them as "Related" because they all came from this site.

You're right...this is some very cools stuff. I'm already getting into it! I have however already found one little problem with it. The little tracking program that runs and keeps track of your songs, counts a song as "played" the second it starts going, instead of when the song finishes.

For instance, I started up iTunes and it randomly played that Kid Rock song Picture that I've had on my computer for forever when I made a CD for my girlfriend or something. The song lasted for 2 seconds before I changed it, but yet aI am marked as listening to it. Oh well...a minor gripe for what seems to be a pretty cool music site.

Thanks for the update on the "Wonkiness". I had to fire up Virtual PC to figure see the it for myself though...I guess thats one problem of having a Windows-Free living environment.

Turns out that Internet Explorer doesn't support the CSS commmand "max-height" for images. Bummer. Now I have to watch all the widths of my images before they hit that column so it won't blow the whole thing up in IE.

I didn't know that Live Updating playlists auto-update without syncing on the newer iPods!

Do you remember when, despite the newer flashy ones, I happy with my older iPod? ...It was about 30 seconds ago. I remember that time. It was nice back then. Now I want a new one, basically just for that feature. I'm serious. I have tons of smart playlists that I use and it would be great if some of them auto-updated on the iPod. For instance: "Long time, no play" is a list of songs I haven't played in 6 months. It would be nice to keep that list to a top 25 and have it update on the fly on my iPod while at work.

Apple's Airport Extreme had a ethernet jack as well as a telephone jack. That was the only consumer router I knew of that had both.

That information was good to have in my pocket when I worked at Best Buy and all kinds of hoosiers would come in asking how they can make their free connection through the library wireless. I think maybe 2 out of the literally hundreds of people that asked that questions actually went out and bought the Airport Extreme.

Also, Numb3rs is an awesome show despite the absolute fakeness of this week's episode.

Yeah, I get some of that too, but clearly not as much as you. ICQ has just always been there for me. I've had it for so long my number is only 7 digits and to this day I can still recite in on request. ICQ was the first, and until AOL bought it, the best. Its a shame to see what has become of it.

I still sign into ICQ because its setup on Adium and honestly I really don't ever make a point to talk to anyone (Dan and one other friend) on ICQ, I usually just click on the "Dan" thats in the top of the list, which I guess now will be his AIM account. Though I'm sure the wave of SPAM will soon crash upon me and I too will have to give up ICQ.

One question though: Did you check out that girl's "cam shot"? Maybe she was a hot chick that genuinely wanted to meet you. You might have just labeled your future soul-mate as SPAM.

I'm starting to think the sad truth is that E-Mail is simply dead (or at least dieing). I'm starting to get a lot of spam on my hellyeahbitch account and I was going to activated Dreamshost's lock-down SPAM filter. However they give you a warning that basically says that you WILL lose emails you want at some point in time and they urge you to setup a full white list. Of course I could go through that work and set it up, but does doing all of that take away the beautiful simplicity that made email so great?

It will work with sites all the way down to ".html" if thats what you put in there, the key is the auto-discovery of the RSS feed. (For example, try plugging in this page's URL, it will find my site's feed with no problem) It scrapes and searches the HTML for a "link" tag that has a type field specified for either XML or ATOM RSS and then pulls that link. If you were referring to your site, in particular, the mobile viewer can't find your feed because there isn't a link tag pointing to your feed in the header of your document. (Same reason why firefox doesn't see your feed either I would assume) Throw a link tag up there with the standard settings and it will work fine for you.

I should state that the root domain of the site is preferable because I use that to change relative links for the feed or pictures into absolute links that will work in the viewer. However, its not necessary as long as the link to the feed is absolute, and they usually are.

Actually, thats where the story ended for me: with x264. I got it to compile, but ffmpeg would never accept that it was there to use.

Maybe you will have better luck than I. To get x264 to compile using nasm, its been a while, but I thought I used the same --extra-cflag switch as above but used the path to nasm. Let me know if that works for you.

The only thing I could as for is a way to view bigger thumbnails, maybe a thumbnail view in the main section of the screen a a la iPhoto. Other than that though, a year later and I still think its one of the better flash products out there on the web today.
