in PowerPoint 2007: Select a Default Theme for New Presentations | Microsoft Powerpoint | Tech-Recipes on Tech-Recipes
didn't work for me- there was no choice for "select Set as Default Theme"
i only could make a theme appear in pp, but no way of making it my default.
any ideas would be appreciated.

What version are you running? When I right click on any theme in the Design tab, I am given the option to set it as the default theme.
