Good post. I love learning about customs in other countries. As an American, I had never heard of the ear-piercing of infants... not until I read it on your blog months ago! It was just far out to me, lol. I got it done at 17 and that was bad enough, haha!
It's diificult knowing about other's customs when large oceans lie between countries. Of course, the Internet brings us all closer, but we all learn something new every day. In America, ear-piercing is usually delayed until the teen years (when I was a kid anyway-- I think piercing is even earlier now). I know that in Middle Eastern countries, ear-piercing has been associated with slavery! So...

I do have a Creative Commons license at Flickr, as I do here at my blog. I certainly don’t mind people using a few of my photos; lots of people do (and some don’t even give me a link back). I took issue with the fact that you copied my ENTIRE post– text, photos, and all. That’s called “duplicate content” and blogs get penalties for having it (not to mention Entrecard penalizes blogs that do it). If you had used a photo or two, and quoted my post in blockquotes, I would never have had any problem with that– this happens all the time and I do it myself. And like I said at your blog, I am very grateful that you linked back to my post. But you copied my ENTIRE post, with text and all my photos. Sorry you hate me for that.

I've been thinking about you and this post, and the people who commented. Christians are a terrific target to sneer at, yeah. And people sure do come out of the woodwork to join the bandwagon, don't they? But consider this: is God real? did Jesus the Christ really die for our sins, and prove it by being raised from the dead? did Jesus the Christ establish the church-- the assembly of believers in Him? The answer to every question is yes. Sniveling about Christians is really irrelevant in such a case.
I would think that anyone who is really seeking truth would put aside selfish lusts, selfish ambition, and pride, and seek the truth of the matter. Didn't God say to seek first His kingdom and righteousness and all these things (that the Gentiles seek so fervently) would be added to him? And didn't He also say that he who comes to God must believe that He is, and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him? And didn't He also say that there is no one good?
The arguments I've seen here stem from ignorance. Maybe better time would be spent seeking the scriptures to become fully assured of the faith, rather then criticizing Christians and their hypocrisies. To the heathens: even hypocritical Christians are closer to God than you are.
Just sayin'.
