in Is It Wrong to Have Children? on dmiessler.com | grep understanding
Hi Daniel,
At first I was going to say I could not think of any reasons. Your argument makes very good sense to me.
Then I remembered that children are a gift. Especially in a family setting where you live with each other.
2 reasons:1. I am told that there is no love comparable to parent > child (in a good scenario).
2. Children will teach their parents.
And I just thought of a third reason for procreation if you are lucky enough to have more than 1 child. There is no relationship comparable to having a sibling. Is that any food for thought?
I guess you could ask again, why not adopt a child that needs a home? That is a tough one.
Maybe it has to do with the idea that you don't know what genetic and other factors are being given to you. More of a challenge?

Dear Daniel,

That was such a beautiful story, especially since it was true, and from your heart.

Your grandfather, my father , is someone to remember with a big smile.

I have nothing but love for you.

Thankyou.

When I was in the jury room a few months ago in Oakland, I didn't hear ANY conversations.
People kept to themselves, or read.

I was glad to be there because I got 2 days off of work, got to see a glimpse of the "workings" of the court--was dismissed early the 2nd day, and got to buy moon cakes in Chinatown before my trip home on BART.

It was an experience I would not have had unless I'd been summoned.

I also believe that people should feel it a privelege and a duty to participate, IF they can afford it--IE: their job pays them while they are off....

Tim: Wouldn't you like to have a thoughtful person such as yourself on the jury if you were in a trial??
