That the real cost of another bargain priced white shirt makes it not worth having it.
That, unlike another pair of unneeded sneakers in the room, a (good) book (stacked properly) rejuvenates...

Could not articulate as well as you have done here. Well done.

Re: Why Social Networks Don’t Work for Business

I think first the goals should be defined. Is the goal to use the wisdom of the crowd inside the company? Is it to build a vibrant community in which there are great contributions from everywhere and prevent the formation of any silo?

The parts of web 2.0 most portable inside the firewalls may yet be Wikis and Blogs. NOT social networking (as it is practiced now).

Both, if done well, can be brilliant tools for effective knowledge management and communication.

Re: Yahoo! Gesundheit

1. Orkut has the worst search in the world.

2. Orkut is hottest in India after Brazil.I read something like 72% Brazil and 18% India. Don't know how much of that figure is true. I am almost guaranteed to find anyone in the 15 - 35 age group in my social circle and in India.

3. I think the reason why it has caught on in India and Brazil has more to do with a few 'sneezers' rather than with the technology.

4. Orkut came out as one guy's '20%' project. It is obvious he was working in a silo and thatz why most of the mashups that you are referring to and would expect are not there.

I'll send u an invite :-)

Cheers,
Jay

Re: Orkut, Jaiku, Google . . . Duh.

Herez the link to my profile.
http://www.orkut.com/Scrapbook.aspx?uid=9001345...

It seems they have very few people working in Orkut development.

Ellison's quote about Technology industry and women's fashion comes to mind. Guessing they are having few internal takers as it is already assumed it is a dud compared to facebook or even the vertical ones like shelfari. No longer cool.

Also, there is a huge issue of identity in Orkut. Anyone can create a profile and a lot of young women have been victims.

Re: Decision 07: (more…) vs. More

>> the issue at hand here is whether we should publish the full post on the main page or not.

Full feed please.
Is there no way to have what you want on the home page but give full feed?

Re: Imitation as Flattery

Other than the 'think tank' (duh!) stuff which he seems to have copy pasted and which does not fit his blog, I think he is cool.

I agree. Leave him alone. We want more pple writing searchable material on this stuff.
