GL, I hear Kaixin.com has ridiculous PV metrics because most of it's on-site activity is driven by gaming that "requires" constant page refreshing, etc....perhaps this is the metric Joe is referring to. I have to admit, I've been sucked into their casual gaming offering...for hours at a time...arrr.
I also agree that this year is likely *the* year for microblogging in China, but it will be a long time before it hits mainstream online culture here...Twitter still hasn't even done that in the West...but, perhaps MB platforms are better not being mainstream.
It will be interesting to see Sohu's SNS product, but does the Chinese Internet really need another generic SNS offering? I think Chinese netizens will start to either turn back to more niche / vertical BBS forums for SN'ing, or find smaller, more focused SNS. Users are getting lost in the masses on the big players.
I don't think the personalized / aggregated homepage format is consistent with Chinese netizen usage behavior. I don't see it being successful.
