Oh wizzard......you know everytime I see those scale charts I feel like I just received a diamond in my christmas stocking. Your scale charts are so awesome. There is nothing more satisfying to me as a beginner because your scale patterns have always given me a direction as I travel the rolling seas of the guitar world.

Hey, nice to see others in the comments section! Well, I like how in this blog, around June 4th in the motivation series of posts, the wizard used the analogy of a person trying to pick up a bolder over an over again and how that is just going to convince the brain that it can not achieve its goals. Because the brain needs its short term rewards, it is imperative that the focus is concentrated on tasks that have a higher chance of success.
As a total beginner, I can not play over 90 percent of the runs and licks in this blog but I get so much guidance in terms of the mental strategies. When I first picked up a guitar I would try one song then another and only was able to play parts of songs and this started to lead me down the road to discouragement.
But then I decided to focus on learning scales. This was a goal my brain liked and could get rewards from. Learning one position of the major scale then another and using the metronome and building up from one note per beat to three or four per beat became the main course of my practice schedule.
I plan to build my skills and finger strength from scales.

Awesome blog posts in this Motivational Series. I must have missed this. I find that no one knows the mental mind battle better than you do. I have been reading your comic for quite a while and its gone form strength to strength over the time. The quality that you're putting in now is quite astonishing. The reason I've decided to comment is - I love black and white comics! And black and white plus one colored panel just looks so stylish! So, not all of your readers want colours only :)
