I've known and admitted Andrew Hyde for several years. He is a special person--creative, charismatic, and wise beyond his years. He would be a true asset to your school.

in Why I Love Boulder on Andrew Hyde
Andrew, \you nailed it. In addition to everything you said, Boulder just feels cozy and right, as compared to the sterile developments you see in other places. So let's keep the developers from wrecking Boulder--as they've started to do in the Canyon corridor. There's a good boulder.me project.

Robert:
Great ideas. So here's another idea -- why don't we do our own conference with all of this rolled in. If you're game, get in touch.

in Why I’m in a malaise… on Scobleizer
Robert: I totally agree with you. Every day I'm brought down a little more by the emphasis on $$ I see everywhere in the blogosphere. If we make this just about money, we become just like the corporate culture from which many of us have released ourselves. I have lots to say, but it's this that has stopped me from creating my own tech blog. I'm just not that interested in the money. I'm interested in the creative possibilities of the tech revolution.
So how about if those of us who care about that side of blogging try to turn it around. We need more content like your Photowalking series, blogs that teach skills, blogs that investigate the cultural effects of blogging, and blogs that celebrate diversity. What we don't need are more posts from every corner about monetizing, advertising, and pushing look-alike start-ups.

in Going to SXSW? on Scobleizer
Hi Robert:
So far I'm free Saturday through Monday evenings.
BBQ - Yum. Let's definitely do barbeque. Just let me know when. I'm at the Hilton across from the Convention Center.
Car - 'fraid not.
Video Blogger - Yes, with the unique perspective of a screencaster. I'd love to do a panel with you. We can talk about how fun it was to do the photowalking/photoshop shoot.
Not sure of a barbeque place, but last year we went to a very cool outdoor beer and burger place called Hills Country Cafe, where I got to swoon over Kris Kristoferson up close. I think they're having the Texas Heritage Music Association awards there on Sunday.

Hi Robert: See you at SXSW. If you're free on Tuesday 3-13 at 3:30, come by my panel called Online Instructional Video - The Next Big Thing. It's in Room 10AB. Alex Lindsay is joining me. We'll talk about how we do our video podcasts (Photoshop Online, MacBreak) and more.

Hi Robert:
Hope you and Maryam are having a great time. While you're there, you might look up Don McAllister of screencastsonline.com . He's a great guy and is doing a bang up job with his video podcast.
Jan Kabili and Dave Van de Water (stuck back here in the States and very jealous).

I love the Mac Cast. Adam is so knowledgeable, has a terrific voice (actually and artistically), and makes you feel like part of his community. I'm also partial to photoshoponline.tv -- but of course.

in What I learned from BlogHer on Scobleizer
Hi Robert:
To be honest, I don't care one way or another about the cars or marketing issues. For me, the great value of BlogHer was the intimacy, the diversity of viewpoints among women bloggers (who are often characterized as if we were all the same), the opportunity to meet terrific women (as well as guys like Robert, Dave Weiner, and Guy Kawasaki), the friendships made, and the overall good feeling that blogging is a good and worthwhile activity on so many levels.
