in Republishing Email: The Great Debate on Plagiarism Today
You have got to be kidding me. First 1's and 0's now you want to copyright my EMAIL? This is already out of hand. These copyright happy people don't realize what they are doing to the creativity of our world and culture. Just remember for every action there is a positive and negative. Positive in your eyes might be Copyrighting Emails. Negative is, well pirates.

Jonathan Bailey I'm not going to discuss the philosophy or even how I feel about copyrighted emails, I just want to note that, under current copyright law, there is no doubt that emails qualify for copyright protection. There is little dispute of that fact. The point of this article was to show a legal debate and the complexities around the issue, not to make a philosophical statement. It can be used to protect one's own writing in email format or to stay out of trouble when seeking to republish someone else's.

The choice is up to the reader.
