Makes me tired just watching!

Whether the parents agreed or not wasn't the point. The point was that children missed school for a trip with questionable value - I certainly wouldn't allow my child to miss school to attend a teacher's wedding, gay or straight. I think it was exploitive to use that wedding in that way. If we are to believe that the public school system will not use this as an opportunity to teach the acceptability of homosexuality to kids, with or without permission, we are kidding ourselves. If that were the case then why would the California Teachers Association donate a million dollars to defeat the proposition. If it didn't affect education they wouldn't care - ask a Christian teacher what's in the current curriculum. One teacher in our church has already mentioned that liberal teachers in her school are already discussing how they can fit this into the classroom and she teaches elementary school.

I have no problem loving any sinner - they come through the door at our church every Sunday and I am one of the biggest. The difference being I am seeking forgiveness and wanting to grow in my walk and spend more time in the Word. In John 8 Jesus intervened in the stoning of a woman caught in adultery - he showed compassion and saved her life but his words to her were "Go now and leave your life of sin." She did not ask Him to condone her lifestyle and change the laws of the land to accomodate her desire to live in a way contrary to God's law. Marriage was instituted by God before it became a legal contract and even now homosexuals are granted civil unions which give them the rights they desire - large companies grant them status as domestic partners and no one can discriminate against them any more than they could any other minority.

Hmmm....very enlightening Alex! I didn't know you did all that stuff - YOU! Rebellious...never say it! HA! I need a bumper sticker that says "I survived FOUR kids!" Ha! Seriously.....NEVER underestimate dedicating your kids to the Lord - although they might not take the path you would choose for them I PRAISE GOD EVERY DAY that the destination is the same - they all serve God and what a blessing that is. I know your friends and fellow bloggers see what a dynamic guy you are and how talented but perhaps what they don't see....and none of us do all the time...is the lives you have touched in your 33 years. Someday when we get to heaven you're gonna be surprised to see some folks that you might have had a few words for or just watched your service to Him. It was rather painful raising you at times - but wow! What a return! I'm SO proud of you!

OK - so last night one of the "tolerant" NO on 8 folks stole our Yes on 8 banner - so who's being intolerant? My best friend lives in Modesto and she told me yesterday that they had a story about a local teacher who took a first grade class on a field trip to "city hall" - actually it ended up being her "wedding" to her lesbian lover. Now think about how you'd feel if your little first grader got that lesson.......and how many heterosexuals do you know would expect their kids to miss school to attend their wedding? Wow - it's getting scary!

Ah, yes, the Sunbird! Baaaad memories - and Subway? What fun! Alex, you are a true Renaissance man - old terminology but gimme a break - I'm old! I can't think of anything you CAN'T do - a few you won't do but you are definitely a talented guy. So when are you playing piano for worship - you can do it you know! LOVE YOU, SON!

Remember the night of your rehearsal dinner and I told Jen the gift I gave her was a husband who could cook and clean? Yeah, Jen, you are VERY welcome!

You were OK with saying "Butt" - it was "that sucks" I didn't like - gosh, Alex, make Dad & I sound so baaaad! Anyway, I digress! Miles! YOU ROCK! I'm so proud of you!

Once something is a law it's pretty hard to "undo" - think of the position a pastor would be in if a gay couple came to him and said we want you to marry us - and, in good conscience, he couldn't do that. Could he be sued? Has anyone seen some of the Kindergarten curriculum in our public schools? Books like "Heather Has Two Mommies." If we don't think this will affect our children we are fooling ourselves - do we not teach our children to obey the law? And the law will say it's OK - God has commanded us that his law comes first. Food for thought. This doesn't mean that we should be unkind to homosexuals however Scripture clearly tells us how to deal with folks with any UNREPENTENT sin - my sin of gossip or being unkind, for example, is no more acceptable than homosexuality. The difference is that I recognize it as such and ask forgiveness (most of the time and when I don't the Spirit is there to remind me!)

This proposition is asking us to condone and accept as law something that goes against God's law. Not to mention it is unnecessary - they already have all the legal rights as domestic partners in the state of California. Asking us to recognize it as marriage is a slap in the face of God, who instituted that sacrament.

Wow! What a blessing - there is nothing in the world more beautiful than the prayer of a child - that we should all be so innocent and love God so purely. On top of that they are just downright adorable! Alex & Jen - you guys are such good parents!

First I'll start with a disclaimer - nothing I say reflects Alex's point of view - he's a big boy and has a mind of his own although his heart belongs to the Lord! PTL! As we look at this political race I think God calls us to look at the moral issues - Obama claims to have accepted Christ at some point but the same question should be asked of him as we ask of any proclaimed Christian - where is the fruit? and does that fruit glorify Christ? McCain has made no such proclamation I can see but will I vote for someone simply because they say they are a Christian? I think not. It's not so much important I say who I"m voting for as I challenge folks to read the issues - just because a candidate says he will do thus and so does not make it happen - we still have a liberal-based Congress. I think the bottom line is educate yourself about the facts - and there's more on the ballot in California than the presidential candidates. Did anyone realize that the California Teacher's Association donated more than $125,000 to defeat proposition 8? They just can't wait to teach our kids that being gay is OK - we are to be the salt of the earth meant to spice things up! And we are called to be "in" the world and not "of" the world. Is there enough evidence in our lives that we could be convicted if Christianity were agains the law? That's what we should concerned about. Thankfully we still have a say and the ability to vote our conscience!

Ah, laddie, you've finally made it! The perfect Scottish boy! (Private joke for those visiting the site!) How many know Alex's whole name is Alexander Lachlan McLean? He was named for the first MacLean in Scotland - Lachlan and he is the 4th generation Alexander.

We had a great time showing Miles and Macy around the games although I think the Wicked Tinkers scared Macy a bit.

Alex, I noticed someone on the blog is related to a Campbell! BEWARE! Twas the Campbell's who stole your castle - twern't for them you'd be living in Castle Duart today! HA! Just kidding!

Poor Miles! I know how he feels! I HATE the dentist! Alex, you never had a cavity until you were an adult which is why you were never scared! Make sure you pray with Miles before the next visit and we'll be praying for him too.

Praise God for answered prayer! As the saying goes "Parenting isn't for wooses!

What a trooper she is! Papa and I are praying for you and Mom & Dad - it's so hard to have your kids hurting! We know God has something special for you and is watching over you during all this....

Our children do not belong to us....no matter who they are or what they become...they are gifts from God and every day we spend with them is a blessing...

Date night! What a concept! Actually Dad & I do that now with another couple every Friday night and we SO look forward to that after 30 years of kids, kids, kids! Don't get me wrong - gotta love the kids but a little alone time is a good thing!

Love the look on Miles face - never have to wonder what he's thinking - love that about him - among many other thing! Kinda reminds me of someone else about that same age... and, yeah, Alex used to cry when we left stuff too - it's OK!

Well, I'm proud of you for going and not finding some lame excuse like most people! Good job!

OK, blame me...go ahead...I don't care what you say you were adorable! I especially loved the velvet sailor suit with the red tie. It had, of course, the matching sailor hat, white knee sox and white saddle shoes. With your little red-hair dutch boy cut you were always the cutest kid! Be nice or I'll post the photos of you when you sang in the Swedish choir wearing the Swedish costume my mom made for you!

You guys are doing good! Enjoy each moment and don't forget to buy a BIG plastic bin to keep all the drawings, awards, favorite toys and report cards in cuz someday your kids will be 33 and you can use it for ammunition! HA HA

Uh, yeah, Alex, Miles has your butt and you have your Dad's. Actually I think all three of them are really cute!

So Miles has inherited his dad's love of the doctors office - nothing is worse than seeing your kid hurting even if it's for a necessary cause.

Poor Miles! Alex, maybe he can hold your hand next time you go!
