Yikes. I forget how different the web is with adblockplus turned off.

That's really not cool of facebook - they need to get on that, and fast.

in Why I Love Gary on Chris Brogan
Gary totally energizes me as well. He's just incredible at what he does. Between creating shows, connecting in a real way on twitter, using facebook to connect and promote, and thanking people for helping him spread his vision (not his product!) he's an incredible example of how to do social media right.

in Eye-Fi Releases Digital Camera Wireless SD Memory Card on Laughing Squid
Holy crap that's the coolest thing I've ever heard. Right now I'm using my iPhone and the 3rd party app pushr to accomplish something similar, but being able to use my real camera would be HUGE! I'm definitely putting this on my christmas wishlist.

in for the love of the game on Alex Hillman Writes Here

Awesome to hear about the mental reboot. I love when that happens to me, and I get a fresh boost of enthusiasm for this stuff.

I've also just got to say that the work you did for Gary's site was out-freaking-standing. I love the header photo, and the rest of the look and feel of the site is top-notch. I love that you took the design elements further than just being a 'skin'. Great stuff!

So the $64,000 question - do any of these match up to your actual stats? If so, which comes the closest?

in Scoble is a big .NET idiot on Scobleizer
This is why I'm unapologetic about being a Scoble fan.

We all make mistakes - it's how we deal with them that makes the man. Admitting the mistake, making amends, and pointing people in good directions (in this case, to folks with more in-depth knowledge on the issue), are great ways to undo any damage done.

In the long run, this dust-up brought a lot of attention to the fact that this code is being cracked open for developers to get a peek at and understand, which certainly isn't a bad thing.

in Economic Armageddon: The Housing Bubble Bursts on Financial Aid Podcast Weekly Internet Radio Show
Wow - definitely a strong title on this one, although I have to admit that I completely agree. More than anything, I'm curious why this bounceback has lasted a week.

Even after all the fear and the shakeout, things are still much worse than most realize in the core financial and housing markets. There's more to come.

in New Media Occupation of the Near Future: Meme Jumper on Christopher S. Penn's Awaken Your Superhero
There's definitely a fine line between jumping on and jumping in.

Chris (Penn, in this case :) ) I've learned a lot from watching the way you work memes in a way that is both good for you and your brand, but also valuable to others.

For example, instead of sending yet another boring promo to Adam Curry's DSC, your submissions were always interesting and provoked great conversation. I believe they even sparked his tinfoil hat moments.

When PodCampNYC grew beyond all of our expectations, you didn't just jump on the bandwagon, you contributed an amazing attendees guide that was extremely valuable for everyone who attended.

More than just reporting on a meme, it's important to contribute something of your own that adds value or extends the Meme further. We could all learn from your meme ninja skills!

in Bacn- A New Internet Term on Chris Brogan
I switched to gmail 100% for it's bacn management. Everything else let me deal with it, but only after it hit my inbox and I was notified.

Gmail filters let me skip the inbox (and the notification popup), so I can have heaps of bacn coming in, and only have to deal with it when I want.

I've got the "blogger" bag and it's one of the best things I've ever owned. I carry just about all the stuff you're toting around (albeit a Canon S3 IS rather than an SLR... Soon... Soon) and it fits it all and more when it needs to without breaking my shoulder.

I have to remember to thank Chris Messina next time I see him for turning me on to them.

in New Media Types- Pay Attention to PodTech on Chris Brogan
I dived in the podtech pool when Robert moved over there, and quickly found myself drowning in content. My queues filled up and to be honest, I never caught up or went back for more.

In contrast, I've watched every episode of geek-brief since I subscribed.

in Digg Fires Google on Blonde 2.0 Blog
I have to say I'm glad to see that the competition is heating up in the ad space again. Adsense was a little too dominant for a little too long in my opinion. I love that google helped move the web away from popups, popunders, and the rest of the junk that we just to face, but it's time for some new ideas.

in The Honeymoon is Over on crayon, a new marketing company
I definitely agree that there are too many services, cool ideas, and social networks to try or use even half of them. Personally, I've found myself spending very little time in Second Life recently, and have pretty much chosen twitter over pownce.

That said, one of the reasons I love Facebook and all the new apps it is spawning is that instead of every web app attempting to build it's own social network and make you get yet another login/password and invite all your friends, you can simply build on top of Facebook's social graph.

Users already have an identity on FB, don't need to port their entire friend list in, etc. It's brilliance - I just hope we can trust FB as the keeper of the network.
