The suspense is crazy Robert! I can't wait to see what you end up chasing down. I know that it will be a huge success AND I am interested because I know it will be something that is the product of the many brains you tap into around the globe.

I am staying tuned!

in Being creative after a layoff on Scobleizer
For me it is getting on my bike to gain a new, higher level perspective of the situation. It is amazing to me how small problems and setbacks become when I am on the bike. I am sure that everyone has some outlet like that to help check perspective. Is this the "happy place" they speak of?

Thanks for the mention Chris. We are excited to be in the fray with Basecamp! We also recently integrated with Evernote. Now you can create tasks and messages from your Evernotes directly within Pelotonics...pretty cool stuff.

What a tremendous list!

Great run-down of Evernote. It is a nice application and they are continuing to build it out. We used their API and integrated it into our project management application Pelotonics. Now you can do something with those notes like make a task out of them or a message in our system related to a project.

I love API's and great software like Evernote!

Absolutely amazing. Maybe they will start burning books next? The funny thing is that they are targeting the very people that make the service cool and aggregate impressive numbers of "friends".

I love your jail account idea. I think that concept would make a ton of sense not only at Facebook, but at all other services that can fall prey to spamming. Always with the good ideas Robert; now if someone would just implement it!

in Closing the Open Hole in My Productivity Systems: Unexpected Places on The 2.0 Life
Very good post. You are exactly right that you need the ability to capture the thought at the time you have it. Because of this I decided that Pelotonics should do an integration with Evernote. This way, you can actually take actions on your notes within a trusted project management system. Check it out: http://www.pelotonics.com/evernote_usecases.html

I'd love your thoughts.

David Pierce Troy,

Thanks for your comment! I really like the integration of Pelotonics with Evernote, the fact that you can create a task from a note without copying and pasting or duplicating at all is critical. I'd be totally sold on Pelotonics if there were a mobile or iPhone-version. Is there one, or is there one in the works?

Regardless of whether the service meets your needs or not, it is a very bad way to announce such news. A detailed blog post with what you can do to transition to another service for instance would have been a bit more dignified.

While the Web 2.0 space has been celebrated as an environment where literally anyone can build a good app. without a large expenditure, this is the other side of that argument.

We have many more announcements like this coming and I hope that the next unfortunate companies handle it a bit better.

That having been said, attrition is a healthy thing and will help those companies that are making headway consolidate a stronger position which is good for everyone. Just look at Evernote's windfall over the past few days after Google's announcement!

I am addicted to voice notes in Evernote. It is so easy to capture ideas on the fly that way. I am always finding myself without a pen when a good idea strikes. I will frequently take those Evernotes and incorporate them into Pelotonics via the recent integration. Truly addicting!

Wow! Thanks Robert. That session was a great one to video. It is really interesting to me how different you and Gary are, but how successful you both have been at building an audience. I think I found the common denominator though. You both are just good guys. You are approachable, fun to be around and smart. That's obviously the key to success in my eyes!

Keep putting out the great content!

in Palm did what Nokia, RIM, and Microsoft couldn’t: build a better experience than Apple on Scobleizer
Heaven forbid that something comes along better than the iPhone! Apple fanatics just got to the point of legitimization and feel now that it can be torn away. Rubish! Palm Pre will do well, but it won't kill iPhone. It will most likely make it a two horse race which is great.

As a software company owner, I am just happy to hear that the browsers on these devices are getting better! What a great thing. We will be looking into an iPhone optimized app and one for the Palm now!

Welcome back Palm. We've missed you.

Can't recommend Getting Things Done any higher. It is great and helps with organization. If you are an organized person it probably won't be life changing. If not, you will be amazed with the difference it makes in your work life.

Sid Savara Thanks for your feedback Troy! You're right, if someone has their
organization under control, perhaps GTD won't make much difference.

Personally, I have never met anyone that I felt had it *that* under control
that it wouldn't make a difference ;) All my friends who were organized
pre-GTD are just more organized (in terms of personal tasks) and _organized_
(hah! as in a productivity fanatical cult sense) now!

in Reduce Stress with Inbox Zero on The Hammer Report
Very good. I am implementing some filtering in my Outlook to help get to Inbox zero quicker and with less effort on my part. All newsletters are now filtered into a folder. All my project based work managed on the Pelotonics group collaboration system are filtered into their relevant project folders.

This is helping tremendously!

Thanks for sharing your experiences...

I just listened to a US union worker at GM bitch about all of us not buying US goods so that he could maintain his job. The host aptly stated that those days are over. The Unions have abused the system for too long and this is the collapse that is caused by that excess. Someone always has to pay!

The word on the talk show was how China will be impacting the Japanese now in the car industry. The Chinese are the new Japanese and will put us out of business and land the Japanese where we were for the past few decades.

Markets change and opportunities abound in those changes. It is people like Liam that come out on top and produce jobs and opportunities for the rest of the scared dooms day minded people. Kudos to Liam and China...now I need to figure out where my opportunity is!

GREAT post Scoble. This is on my all-time top 5 lists of blog posts I have read. Substantive, relevant and mind blowing. Thanks.

in 6 Ways Evernote Fails and the 1 Reason I Don't Uninstall It on Read, Write & View
You are right in many respects. My thing was that I had a bunch of info in Evernote, but couldn't do anything with it. Check out how I solved that problem for me and Pelotonics users: http://www.vimeo.com/2024523

Don't know if it would apply to a student, but I think it would as I think back a few years! Let me know your thoughts.
