Thanks for your hospitality Mathew, Stuart, Mark, Rob and Mike.

Re: Digg vs HD-DVD: a social network revolts — updated

A couple of things are unclear to me:

If Digg wanted to prevent people posting the code on the Digg site, why couldn't they use automatic filtering, such as is typically used to prevent obscenity? Surely they must have had such a system in place, along with the ability to quickly tweak it to target any specific text string. (Perhaps their system couldn't cope with the rate of postings?)

If, on the other hand, people were simply posting links to the code on other websites, is Digg actually liable?

Re: Google and eBay — catfight, 90210-style

Nice one Mathew! ;-)

Re: Do you have a right not to be indexed?

My sympathies are with the lawyers on this rare occasion. One of the problems, I think, is that Avvo will not reveal the formula for their rankings. Just browsing the listings, it seemed to me that lawyers early in their career tended to have lower ratings than the veterans. It's one thing to report that a lawyer has only two years experience, for example, but quite another to saddle them with a lower quality ranking, through a secret algorithm, on that basis.

Re: Eye Gravity Draws Attention And Interest: Study

Poynter is now re-evaluating their original claim that online readers read more of each story.
