Google’s Chrome is aimed at Windows, not IE

This is no longer about browser but about the an entire marketplace spread between desktop, mobile and web. With Chrome, Google’s taking a shot at Windows, not paltry Internet Explorer

I’ve covered this in more detail on my blog

in Best Ways to Use Twitter With Nokia Phones on The Nokia Blog
Finally a decent Twitter client for Nokia phones. I was getting tired of using Slandr as I had to reload the entire page each time. Thanks for sharing this.

in Cuil Misses Me on Chris Brogan
Same here, I searched my name and the most relevant results like my blog or my Linkedin profile were nowhere to be seen, instead it threw up not-so-relevant results like comments I had posted somewhere and a bookmarking site I used for a week and quit posting to 6 months ago.

Google become a phenomenon because it gave relevant results. I don’t understand why these ex-googlers are missing this simple point by miles?

I faced the same issue, my blog's not showing up in the search. I guess they haven't crawled through the blogs yet

This will sound weird but I think "Skype me" is already associated with low-cost international calling. About a month ago, a vendor in far-east asked me to "Skype him" instead of making an international call.

Getting the point across clearly is key though, which mustn't be compromised.

in Pepsi Wants Your Children! on Jacob Morgan on Social Media, Technology, Marketing, and Life
Pepsi first broke out from the doldrums and beat Coke by targeting the youth market, they hit Coke so hard that Coke changed their flavor to taste more like Pepsi. (They changed it back of course, after Coke fans revolted)

Seems like now they're going after the pre-youth market :)

I don't mind Pepsi making a profit from the kids, but they should have some ethics and target them with nutritional products instead of a toilet cleaner.... Does that make sense?

in Everyone is a VIP on Jacob Morgan on Social Media, Technology, Marketing, and Life
You make an excellent point.

Back in 2000 if I had trouble with a product I would complain to the company and they would brush me off, because the people I could give negative feedback to was limited to 10-15 close friends. Not anymore, I'm connected to thousands and thousands thanks to social media. Pissing me off is like pissing of a journalist from say 'Chicago Tribune' in the old days.

No wonder the companies are forced to take notice of the small guy.... 'cos he's not small anymore. Time magazine was absolutely 100% right in making "You" the person of the year in 2006.

PS: Thanks for adding the 'follow comments' widget. May I also suggest adding "CommentLuv" so commenters can showcase their last post along with the comment as well :)

in Five LinkedIn Tools I Need Right Now on Chris Brogan
The primary reason I visit LinkedIn is for the Q&A, and I think it could do with a few enhancements:
1. Add Answers link/menu-item in mobile version and outlook/firefox toolbars
2. Update me when new answers are posted to a question that I have responded to, kinda like "Notify me of followup comments via e-mail" that this blog has (makes it very easy to follow the conversation)
3. Allow posting links in Questions like you do in Answers

Besides that, I second "Groupings" and "Commenting"

in Everything You Do Is Marketing on Jacob Morgan on Social Media, Technology, Marketing, and Life
...At the end of the report the last page would say “thank you.”...

I guess this is standard practice, seen it in most companies I've worked with and our partners/vendors

...Why not let the company know about any news, announcements, updates, or new products/service that you have?...

I'm all for extending reach with new ideas, bit isn't this a bit of a stretch, wouldn't we come across as needy/desperate/grappling-for-whatever-attention-we-can-get even-at-inappropriate-places etc;

Agree, mobile social networking is on the rise, but it's a long way from reaching its full potential. I have gone through a couple of mobile social networks out there and they are nowhere near my expectations. So I decided to list down a few scenarios.

"Another example would be someone who chooses to write a professional blog just to voice ideas......they could visit a hundred other blogs and link to them via commentary and relations to quickly begin social networking."

Great example to get your point across.

in If Facebook or Twitter Charged $30/Month Would You Pay? on Jacob Morgan on Social Media, Technology, Marketing, and Life
Subscription or license models have not worked very well in the past, remember how premium mail services were washed off when Google offered free 1 GB accounts, and the entry barrier to Email is much higher than creating a social media site.
