I totally agree with you, this show, this Reba in fact, almost 10 years later, stands out as one of the most vidid concert experiences for me as well. Thanks so much for posting the video.

in Grammys ‘08 Open Thread on Live Music Blog.com
I thought the Rhapsody in Blue performance was the only part worth watching. Congrats to Herbie Handcock on being the first jazz musician since 1964 to win Album of the Year. Here's an interesting quote from a CNN article:

"In fact, in the history of the Grammys, only one pure jazz album -- Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto's 1964 "Getz/Gilberto" -- has won the big prize, one less than the number of comedy albums that has done so."

When trying to view on a mac with QT, I get:

The movie file "smarticastintro.mov" cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly.

Looks like pretty cool software. My blog is custom code that I developed. Does MarsEdit post documentation on how it interacts with the server side? Or does it just rely on APIs that each big time blog software package (WordPress, Blogger, MovableType, etc.) create? Assuming it's a documented API, I could implement it myself, but maybe I should just give up and use Mephisto :)

in EMI/iTunes DRM Drop | Some Additional Thoughts on Live Music Blog.com
I know I'm probably in the minority on this, but I would rather have 128kbps than 256kbps. The difference in sound quality is imperceptible to my ears and I would rather be able to store twice as much music on my ipod, which is something that doesn't get mentioned as a downside by audiophiles proclaiming their excitement for higher bit rates. If you were to switch your entire music collection from 128 to 256, your 30GB iPod just became a 15GB iPod.

in Bonnaroo Headliners Rumor Confirmed (Kinda) on Live Music Blog.com
I understand all this hostility towards Radiohead, Beck and Tom Petty. They may be great bands and they may be good live (wouldn't know, never seen them), but they aren't jam bands. Bonnaroo started as a jam band festival and many people would like it to stay that way. AFAIK, they (Beck/Petty/Radiohead) don't allow their music to be recorded and transferred at sites like bt.etree.org and archive.org/audio. They are popular because their music is played on the radio and they make their money selling CDs. That doesn't mean they don't play a good show live, they just aren't jam bands. Jam bands attract a scene that people like. Pop/Rock bands have a different scene. Next thing you know we will have Limp Biscuit, Metalica and Rage Against the Machine headlining and you will have woodstock '99 all over again. In some ways it seems like Bonnaroo built a name by having jam bands and now has turned their back on the jam band scene, giving the headline slots to Pop/Rock bands. The up and coming jam bands deserve a shot to headline. So anyway, what 3 bands *should* headline?

Friday - Umphrey's McGee
Saturday - moe.
Sunday - Trey

But there's not way in hell that's happening, which is why I'm not going.

Sorry, I don't share your excitement about this. Seems to me like ticket sales are low for Trey and this is his way of boosting sales. To me it is more than sleeping with his ex. It is taking advantage of your willing ex for personal gain.
