Following you over from BlogHer, you captivated me with your information on the ADHD that you and your son both share. Thanks for all the advice you offered!

I'm feeling your daughter's pain. My own years of braces totaled nearly 6 years. UGH. That was no fun.

Re: Blogher 06: Culture, Crowds and Celebrity

What a great way to wrap up the weekend at BlogHer. It was all this and more, but the clique reference gave me some things to think about as I write my own entry. I love what TW said about fitting in and describing oneself. It is so perfect.

Wonderful to meet you and have my brain go, "Oh, yeah! I remember you and the ADHD thing that I commented on a long time ago."

Here's to a successful weekend!

Re: Pardon the dust….

Hey, who cares about the site look when you have such a fantastic picture up? Why we take the innocent and victimize them and let so much else happen why turning a blind eye to them infuriates me. Of course, I'm in support of teachers and all that emcompasses, but what's the real story? Who were they trying to catch doing something?

So many more questions. You are a real blessing to know, my dear. Your example speaks volumes.

Re: Hello, This is the Parent of Your Former Honor Student Calling…

It's funny, but Kennimus thought you were slamming me, but I assured him that I had NOTHING to do with your daughter's placement. It's completely irresponsible for them to have merged these two schools and then not managed to have the foresight to determine what to do with their Honors students (not to mention Special Education students, but I though that would have been too obvious).

Or perhaps they did.

Here's my question for the district: did they figure that their honors student category was going to increase and then re-configure their placement criteria? If so, did your daughter not make the cut? If so, did they consider her and other kids not to have been "Honors" in the first place?

I'm sorry for the mess. I hope it all works out and you get the answers you seek. Mostly, I hope that your daughter is ok.

Re: When hard work pays off…

I'm all kinds of impressed and happy for you both! You look like you spent time with a TON of people! Did you even have time to sleep?

And I have to give a big "Awww, man!" to how you're feeling about Heather B. She is more awesome than I can even say and her force field is made of love. Trust me on that one. Oh, maybe a dash of Ketel One, but that's because when I stand close to her I crave vodka and kiss her full on the lips just to get drunk. She is, by far, one of the nicest people I've ever met. Blogger or not.

Also? Everyone thinks we're the same person.

WHAT???

Re: Slam Poet Predicts Obama And Reaction A Year Ago (video)

I may not need my breakfast this morning because this shit FED me.

Re: Stop…Carni Time!

Since I can't convince the fam to join, I'm doing small things that will hopefully catch on with them and become a natural part of our lives:

no more plastic bags - I carry my plethora of Teacher Bags to the store

reducing water waste

water saving showerhead

combining trips to save gas

also, slowing down (am leadfoot by birth. What I learned about my children is that they each value time alone with me so each present is marked with special time. For instance, my youngest son loves old movies and wants to watch them WITH me so a gift for him would be a 2 hour slot of time, the movie of his choice, and a bag o' goodies (mostly from the $1 section of Walgreens but any dollar store would work) like Twizzlers and popcorn and a Jones soda.

Each one is different and personalized for each kid and they can redeem them at any time. Great, easy, money-saving!

Mocha’s last blog post..Vulnerable

Re: Last Minute Valentine: iPod Touch Giveaway {over}

Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is one that pretty much makes me melt every single time.
