in The Platform to Successful Blogging on Work From Home Business Blog
I've always used WordPress self-hosted (which should be listed in standalone too shouldn't it?). I did actually try Blogger once but it didn't provide me with the flexibility I wanted from a blog, where as WordPress is very flexible, not just as a blog but it also works as a traditional CMS quite well too. I haven't tried many others though but it seems to me that WordPress has the best level of support, plug-in development etc. So it's an easy choice for me.

in Blog Traffic- Top Tips To Increase Blog Traffic on Work From Home Business Blog
Twitter has been performing pretty well for me and the traffic is of a good quality too. However I want to start targeting SEO as I think it's one of the best sources for massive blog traffic, along with social media.

Marketing Business Review Yes twitter it is another great way to get traffic but search engines traffic does not need you to do any tweet to bring it. Once you build the backlinks the traffic continues to flow without your help.
peterlee @ Dot Com Dud: I've seen some good traffic in twitter although it's not so consistent. I tend to get more of twitter traffic whenever I publish new posts. Thanks for sharing Dud.

Sounds needlessly complicated to me and any affiliate earnings will be hit & miss. What kind of exposure does this site offer, how much traffic is it going to send?

Nice links this week, although the Garry Conn article is a bit of a no-brainer.

Make Money Online Huh why did you say its a no brainer?
Peter Lee @Blog Income Report: Hi DCD, Yes it is but there are many people who will lose an arm and a leg in PPC ads if they are not careful.

in Make Money With OIO Publisher On Your Blog on Work From Home Business Blog
Thanks, that's good advice. I use a few forums regularly so they would be a good place to start. I am thinking maybe $10 a month for a 125 ad would be fair, what do you think??
Peter Lee @Blog Income Report: Yes $10 is a fair price.

in Make Money With OIO Publisher On Your Blog on Work From Home Business Blog
I want to get OIO but I'm just not sure if my ad spots will sell or not? Also, any idea how to price ads, is there a guide in the OIO marketplace or something??

Peter Lee @Blog Income Report: No there isn't any guide available not in OIO marketplace or anywhere for that matter. It's really up to you. But you can do a check with other bloggers who use OIO how much they are putting. Just click their ad page and you'll know. Then compare against their alexa, PR and inbound links, that would be a rough guide how much you should put if you ask me.Don't be afraid you'll have no ad spots filled. There are many ways to attract people to place their ads. Start with very low price and pass the word around promoting it perhaps at your favorite forums.

$250 million must be nice but I don't see how they are going to make Twitter profitable without degrading the service.

Readers are an important measure of a blogs success and having a large numbers of readers is going to make you more attractive to advertisers. A blog without RSS looks unprofessional. Keep the RSS button!!

Coke hasn't been the same since they removed teh cocaine :P

Seriously though, it is important to be able to seperate our personal opinions of posts and focus on the reality of which posts appeal to the audience and provide more of the same in the future.

in Off-Line Marketing Techniques for your Online Business on John Cow dot COM
Some great tips, would love to see more examples of off-line promotion. Do you think this sort of thing (business cards etc) suits websites that sell a product more than blogs? It just seems that networking about "this blog I write" is a harder sell than "this product you can purchase at www.etc". Any tips of the best way to approach off-line marketing for a blog specifically?

Hue is fantastic, I got one of the hats from there and when you hold it up to the light, you can see the pictures they have weaved into the hat, very cool. I didn't do much other shopping there though, so I'm not sure what else would be good for a prize.

Are you going to visit the Purple City?

Gary Arndt Purple City? I used to live like 5 miles from Prince.

I finally got around to claiming my blog on Technorati, so I can join in the exchange now. I favourited your blog, I'll probably post about it but I'm in the middle of Blogging Idol #2 promotions right now, so it might be a few weeks. Still, it's a great idea!

in How To Avoid Being An Ass On Twitter (and every other social networking site too) on John Haydon
I am starting to see why Twitter isn't doing anything for me. All my tweets are automated right now, I need to start engaging, 1 on 1, with people who follow me.

johnscotthaydon @Pelf - Good point on the email. Actually feedburner and feedblitz are free. Both are good for starters. When a non-profit starts getting over 1,000 subscribers, they may way to start segmenting lists - that's where Aweber can help.
