in The Popdose Guide to Del Amitri on Popdose
Dang it! I was just working on a post on how unappreciated Del Amitri was when I saw this. Good post - They deserved much more success than they actually got. And Lousy With Love - These songs were B-SIDES? It's better than most studio CDs or compilations I've heard.

You have to appreciate Asia for what it is - decent, melodic prog/arena rock. That's all. Otherwise it's way too easy to criticize.
I once bought a video at a yard sale called "Michael Bolton's Winning Softball." The first lines of the video were. "Hi, I'm Michael Bolton. You're probably asking yourself, 'What does Michael Bolton know about softball'?" He read my mind!

I agree, although I gave up after "Starman." My review was a little less kind. She hasn't been the same since she stopped working with Jon Brion.

Perfect post. I feel the same way with my two daughters - am I doing enough, giving them enough time and attention? But the tuneful songs that you're playing for them will stick with them for the rest of their lives (so they won't grow up listening to crap). And I'll take a guess that they'll remember you marching around the room with them, too.

Wait - there was an "Eddie and the Cruisers II"? That title sounds like a Nightmare on Elm Street Sequel. I'd much prefer "Eddie and the Cruisers II - Electric Boogaloo."

After the success of "Dancing in the Sheets," my hit-seeking radar found their follow-up single, "Amnesia," in the record bin and I immediately bought it.
It peaked at #74.
Dave, I hope we'll see this in "The Ass End of the 80s" once we get to the letter S.

Hey, was that Leif Garrett at the beginning of the "Get Up and Boogie" clip?

Thanks - seriously! I always wondered how Cliff Richard sold so many records - I always thought it was kind of like the Brits' infatuation with Mr. Bean or the French with Jerry Lewis (unexplainable). But yeah, I actually like a few of those songs, and had no idea he did "Devil Woman"! But that hair...Yeesh.

Hmm...First 45 I can remember was "Saturday Night" by the Bay City Rollers. Or "Beth" by Kiss. Seeing as SN was released in 1973 and I bought the single at a garage sale, I can't really place the time, but it was around 1976.

in Jesus of Cool: The Worst Number One Songs of the ’80s on Popdose
Perfect list! The only thing missing is a Rick Astley song, but his coolness factor is way up right now. Come to think of it, judging from your honorable mention list at the beginning, you could have easily done a Top 30...
