Rod - where might I find that set of macros?

My first choice would be something with Weldments since that's about 90% of what I do. Thanks for all of your informative posts - I really love this site!

Thanks for the goodies. I have been messing with 2009 on and off - I love it thus far. One think they should have done is to take your numeric input in sketches and give you the option to convert them to actual dimensions. That way you can dimension your part as you draw it - at least have it be an option. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that's an option.

I have not had a chance to play with 2009 a lot but I hope the Weldments feature will be expanded on. Especially how it handles cut-lists. Would be great if you could treat a weldment (or multi-body) part as an assembly - with features such as limited section cuts.

Good stuff. I tried Print Screen but the resolution is not that great. Try this - open the PDF file, select the Snapshot tool, ZOOM IN (important) into one of the the corners of the drawing, click on the corner to start the snapshot tool then drag to the opposite corner - the screen will pan automatically. This will grab the image to the clipboard at a much higher resolution. You can then paste it into your favorite bitmap program and save as a JPG.

I have a few basic ones but my favorites are using the number pad on the keyboard:

5-top view
0-bottom view
4-left view
6-right view
+-isometric view
2-front view
8-back view

It really speeds things up.

Thanks guys - I tried it with configurations but a section view takes on the config of the view it's taken from - I can't have a plan view let's say of a part, section it through the middle and only have a slice about a foot thick (for instance). Is that what you mean - have one config for the main view and another for the section view?

I really would love for SW to treat weldments as assemblies - in other words give us all of the assembly features in weldments - particularly in the drawing environment. One think I would like to know how you guys are doing it is limiting the depth of a section cut in a weldment drawing. In an assembly it can easily be done just drag how far back you want the cut to go (how much is shown behind the actual cut plane). In a weldment - sections you create go on forever - showing everything. I know you can show only cut members where the only objects it displays are those up against the cut plane but that's not standard drafting practice. Any suggestions are welcome.....

I like the fact that the Solidworks community is such a tight-knit group of people willing to share their knowledge and help one another out. Of course blogs such as SOLIDSMACK make that so much easier and fun... thanks for a great place to learn about our beloved Solidworks.....

Thanks Josh - I can't find that file (nor the Benchmark folder). All I ran was the Solidworks test - should I have ran ALL TESTS? I have these files:

No biggie. I would like to, though, compare what I have now to the computer I will be getting so I need to do a complete test.... thanks.

Thanks Josh - much appreciated. I am looking to order a Dell 30" monitor with dual quad-core CPU's... since I'm not paying for it - I went all out. I suspect my assemblies may get rather large in due time and I want to be ready....
