in Robert Rodriguez Targets June Start for ‘Machete’ on Film School Rejects
I'd actually be okay if you never made another comment again...but we can't all have what we want, can we?

in The Girlfriend Experience Trailer with Sasha Grey and Diaper Guy on Film School Rejects
Excited for this. As with Bubble, an individual's reaction to this film will, most likely, be an accurate reflection of their own prejudices about the subject matter.

Hey, Cole, maybe you should stop reporting about and reviewing films and start cutting trailers.

Are we talking about a record in terms of money, or how many times you can use the word "haul" in an article?

in Discuss: Should The Wachowskis Reboot Superman? on Film School Rejects
The Wachowskis would, most likely, make a Ratner-quality Superman. Why not let Singer make another one? Even though his film wasn't, strictly speaking, a reboot, Singer did have some exposition to get out of the way before really zeroing in on the story at-hand. Pull a Holmes-esque switcheroo with Bosworth, drop in Beckinsale, and let him try again.

in Inglourious Basterds Teaser Officially Arrives Online on Film School Rejects
"You haven't seen war until you've seen it through the eyes of Quentin Tarantino"? What the hell does that mean...the Holocaust with witty dialogue? The style-to-substance scale has tipped the wrong way with ol' QT. Nuggets of good ideas in his movies are usually outweighed by homage tonnage, nowadays. Even the high shot of the men lined up in this teaser echoes Dirty Dozen. It seems like the more he realizes the value of slapping his name on something, the more QT loses his true voice and value where it counts...in the storytelling.

in Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’ for Christmas 2009? on Film School Rejects
Doesn't Spielberg tend to shoot and edit concurrently, now? I remember reading that he did that on Saving Private Ryan. Not that that was his best film, but if he shot pretty close to the edit, he could, realistically, make a good film pretty quickly.

in The Top Ten Oscar Contenders for 2008 on Film School Rejects
Why do people hate Soderbergh so much? Hey, Fure, what is his vision for the future of
film? The last I heard, he was just experimenting with different methods of delivery. Does
that really want to make you vomit? Seriously? You love seeing movies in theaters with
audiences who, more often than not, couldn't care less about the story passing before
their eyes?

I'm just wondering. I hear a lot of hate directed at Soderbergh online and I can't figure
out why. He's just plying his trade. Maybe there's some jealousy brewing in comments
like that. I don't mean yours, specifically, Fure, but in general.

Anyway, this looks like a good list of films.

in Please Barack - Don't Stop Debating on A VC
I forgot to say that I too would like more debates, but I agree with what others have said here. Hillary narrowly outperforms Obama in debates, and they would constitute a little free-ish publicity for her sinking campaign.

Conversely, I do NOT want to see more debates in the same format as the previous ones. I believe now that we're down to two candidates, the debate format should evolve. Make each debate about a specific issue. All other issues are off the table for that night. Give each candidate 20-30 minutes on the stage alone to lay out their respective plans about that particular issue. After both candidates have presented plans, have a 30-minute back-and-forth debate between the two.

If voters watch such a debate, they will not have the "I don't really know where the candidate stands" excuse. Part of the reason people feel like they don't know the candidates now is because they're too lazy to pay attention. With this enhanced debate format, voters show up knowing what's going to be covered and they can keep score as they see fit.

Debate sponsors (and their media venues) need to realize that changing the candidates from standing to sitting is only a change of scenery. I don't learn any more about Clinton or Obama by seeing them sit down. If the debates were executed in the way I just outlined, I believe the ratings (which is all the media really cares about anyway) would go up, becuase would show up knowing what to expect.

Of course, what you're asking for from the debate is NOT what Clinton wants. You've obviously been watching, you know their machine. A debate for her is yet another place to sling muddy lies. I wish the Clintons hadn't shown that side of themselves in this campaign. I had respect for them. But in the Democratic Party, they embody what's wrong. Besides, if Hillary is elected and serves two terms, then we will have a member from two families in or near the highest office in the land for nearly 40 YEARS! That doesn't seem like democracy to me.
