Well, Mike's post made me interested in the festival, even with the criticism. However, after reading the replies I will definitely not be attending*, especially since I am in the Bay area right now.

MIke, I would think about getting applecare, and get the hd in a few weeks/months. Couldn't you just throw the old drive back in if there was a warranty problem?

do a search around for the longest startup chime, I don't remember where I saw it, but it was a video of a mac starting up and it had something like a 5 minute startup chime, and the volume was on 11... all in a Library that was packed and silent... I want that. Now.

One thing that I found that I still need my old windows lappy around for is my xbox crap, seeing how my mac just doesn't seem to ftp right no matter how many times I setup the ftp programs to what I think should be right. All in all though, I fire that machine up every 2 months or so
