Nice to get some sanity in on the Yahoo situation. Reading TC makes your head spin.

in Canadian copyright bill: Good and bad on Mathew's comments
The way this bill was covered today by the news is lamentable. Anyone with access to a social news site can see what the people think of this law. If the government was representing its people this bill would never have been introduced. Everyone involved in the media that gave this bill two thumbs up should be ashamed of themselves.

in Yahoo opens Google AdSense account on Mathew's comments
I personally took the time to come over from my RSS reader to say how much I love the line "If you smell anything wafting from Yahoo’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, it could be the rising stench of desperation".

As an added bonus I also enjoyed "obviously designed to placate the U.S. government that it might as well start out with the words “Dear Anti-Trust Investigators".

One of the best tech commentaries I've read in weeks.

in StartupCamp Waterloo 3 Recap on StartupNorth
We had the chance to Demo at StartUpCamp Waterloo and it was really a great atmosphere for presenters and listeners. The feedback was invaluable and the giant stopwatch clock kept things moving.

in Belgium: Ignoring reality since 1830 on Mathew's comments
Why would the newspaper put their articles online if they didn't want them linked to?

mathewi That's an excellent question, Mark. You would have to ask Copiepresse
that one. My suspicion is that they *do* want them linked to -- they
just want Google to pay them for the privilege of doing so.

in Windows 7: I couldn’t care less on Mathew's comments
You know I'm just waiting for Apple to release a version of their OS which introduces a right mouse button, takes out the apple key and closes applications the same way Windows does. These were my main 'oh man' after I bought my MBP that took some time to get used to. Other than that, I'm happy about the subculture and reliability the joining a MAC comes with. It seems like other MAC users go the extra step to help you out with technical problems and the software available for MAC is on par if not better than Windows software. (I love the iLife series personally).

Hopefully, perhaps when some patents reach their 20 year mark, we can see MAC making some concessions to make the MS to Apple transition a bit smoother.

Anyways, that said. Excellent and succinct post.

in The Code Factory - Ottawa Co-Working Space on StartupNorth
I had the chance to listen to Bobby John talk about how he started Indoor Playground at U of T. I kept thinking what a great idea it was, Bobby had mentioned it was in the black, so I had no idea why it shut down.

This post helps solve that question for me. (landlord)
